Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Monolith Soft hiring once again for a new RPG specifically directed by Tetsuya Takahashi

Xenogears remake is what I want the most from them.
With or without Squaresoft’s Xenogears trademarks. Doing it under the Xenoblade Chronicles X brand would work as well.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Interesting. I'm kind of hoping for a large, open world turn based RPG. Think Chrono Triger but open world.

As long as it has Akira Toriyama's art style.

I mean. How? He can't work on new projects. He's dead.

But his art style can be mimicked.

That's disrespectful (Not to mention illegal) unless he gave his blessing to someone or had an understudy.

Point made.

It's been two decades since the last Baten Kaitos, so a new game in the series or style of it wouldn't be that much different from a new IP at this point.

They would have to ask Namco

I forgot that it's a Bamco IP instead of Nintendo's. I'm sure the former wouldn't mind if Nintendo inquired though. Outside of re-releasing the games recently, they haven't done anything with it. They didn't even bother putting the remasters on Sony and MS consoles.

Another thing is that it's not a Tetsuya Takahashi series, but rather one by Yasuyuki Honne (Artist on Chrono Trigger, Art Director on Xenogears and Chrono Cross) and Masato Kato (co-writer on Chrono Trigger and Xenogears, and head writer of Chrono Cross). I don't think Tetsuya Takahashi would take over that franchise if they got it from Bamco.

I mean why the need to take in an established franchise you don't have any ownership over when it can just work and mold his own with Xenoblade instead.

I feel like Takahashi usually doesn't want to be limited to others work and prefer to work on his own stuff.
