Did you ever get into VR. If so are you done with it now or is your headset collecting dust? If you never got in, why? And if you're still there buying games adding to that insane attach rate, why are you sticking with it.

I was in 2016 amazed by this tech and still am but they never brought the games to "more" than VR games. They just won't or can't reach the level of games we have today. I'm willing to put up with all it's flaws cause it's mind blowing technology but I can't overlook that. The closest we got was Half Life Alex, Blood and Truth and Astrobot rescue mission as new, built got VR specifically and then VR titles like RE7, Re4, Wipeout which are all ports from flat screen games. The PSVR 2 tried to sell itself on software that was more VR experiences like call of the mountain and Kayak simulator with the only killer app being Granturismo 7, just not enough man. The Meta quests catalogue is great for light gaming but it's all arcadey, once off stuff or experiences, nothing that says 30 hour, indept Open world or RPG like you can have on flat screen and it wouldn't even be capable.

I'd be really happy to buy into this tech again if they could get AAA games publishers to add a VR mode that works same as the main game but it looks like that'll never happen again and VR is going away at least for a while until the tech catches up to make this a reality. It's such a pity.

Bumpy'd bumble bump.

Considering movies like Lawnmower Man exist, and we were all talking about it in the early 90's, I think it's safe to say it's here to stay. Now, as to when its potential is fully realized... that is anyone's guess. But I believe it'll happen. One day.

Yes, but on console? That's where it needs to be. Perhaps Sony will allow third party headsets in the future like they do with racing wheels.

VR has been coming in and out of popularity for over 30 years. It's too inclusive still somewhat pricey and clunky to be anything but niche. It's limited. It can be fine as a niche thing it's not going to be the next BIG thing. That was supposed to happen in 1991. Remember VR Cafes? I do. Once companies realize it's a niche product with limited appeal and target that niche audience with the right expectations. It can do fine. 2016 was another boom period of novelty but the novelty wore out for most. It's not going to die either way. It's just not going to take over console phones or PC or even a big market share.

But it could though, it has the potential. If they could get it as small as swimming goggles or even sun glasses, wireless and put actual games on it. It could take over. Look at the success of PlayStation portal, people want devices like that and you could play your games on a big virtual screen also if it was a hybrid AR device. The attach rate with them is actually insane, like 7 fold normal consoles last time I checked. It only takes one generation to adopt it. It's just the tech isn't there.

AR is an old and silly gimmick. Not AR but same kinda of appeal. Remember the arcade game Time Traveler? Used Holograms. It was a novelty but extremely limited. AR has always been the same.   You can't make them as small as swim goggles as then you exclude people who wear glasses.  I can't do VR at all I get lightheaded.

I fear that by the time it's fully realized, consoles may no longer be a thing. Perhaps VR will be the "console".

I didn't get into it (yet?).
I think the two main issues are cost and not being wireless.
And for me personally I would like to see a .hack game take advantage of VR.

I would buy PSVR2 if I had the space for it. I don't in my current living situation.
