It's so hard for me to decide Metal Gear Solid 2 or 3. I just love everything about the series but 2 and 3 are my absolute favourites and best games I've ever played. I'm blown away everytime I play 2 and 3 again

I played MGS 2 no less than 25 times. I used to start it get to the finish and instantly restart it again. Same with MGS1 before MGS2 came out. It never got tireing.

The remake is better in everyway. Honeslty was the best game ever when it was released, but the combat is just too simple now, as we gamers have gotten way more skilled from playing games for 15 more years, the shoot in the head and kick is way too OP, then the shot gun just oblitrates enemies it's way to easy for something that's suppose to be a survival horror game these days. Play the remake in hardcore.

This where things to get confusing for me cause for mario 64, OOT, and resident evil 4 were goats for there time but they been surpassed in almost every way.

I played RE4 ps4 remaster in 2019 for the first time and I bought the remake a few months ago. I progressed the remake enough to know that it's not better in every way, they slowed down the pace of the game and there is something to be said about overcluttered graphics for this game. I felt like reducing difficulty just so I could get a better flow and pacing, before I put it in my backlof folder. I don't think RE4 was supposed to be pure horror nor was it supposed to follow RE in puzzles or level design. Just build as an action thrill ride from start to finish while keeping the vibe of the series. It was perfect. Even the VR game on Quest, as cool as it was, didn't feel like RE4 although they changed little but the key word is pacing. That game is built around the pacing. It needs to have progression get up and go and no down time. The remakes tenderness is cool but to avoid getting gangbanged it slows it all down. To much I say.

I played RE4 first time on ps2 and it was the best game ever for me. later replayed on 360 like 7 years later and almost fell asleep, turned the game off at the castle. it's suppose to be a horror action game but if you play careful like you are suppose too and know the head shot and kick combo and keep shotgun when it gets over crowded control the combat becomes way too simple and you have no fear of really dying.

Yeah, but I think that's what they were going for. A dopamine action thrill ride with a horror vibe. Idk, whatever it was they created and for whatever reasons it was perfect the way it was. Just my opinion like.

I agree it was perfect for it's time but gamers have gotten way more skilled at shooters and horror games, and the remake refines that to perfection but that's just my opinion.

Maybe so, it didn't get mass critical acclaim for nothing.

I think I'll go with Elden Ring

Beet combat gameplay in the industry refined to astonishing levels where you have hundreds of spells, weapons ans skills you can combined in thousands of viable and sick builds

There's not a single boring moment in the Lands in Between. The maps are filled with bosses, enemies, dungeons and items and secrets to discover

The level design in the dungeons are nothing sort of stellar with some of the best in From Software history

The artistic direction make this one of the most beautiful games ever made. Music is spectacular, beautiful and immersive

Souls have the ability to test your patience and rewards you will the thrill. The sense you're are in constant risk of death and the feelings of accomplishment for beating the boss when you're left with

97% rating on steam is crazy high as well.

R4 is great but it's too "shooter" for me, it's no longer an horror survival game with focus on inventory management and puzzles

It's more like a full fledged action third person shooter, which is fine but not what I like in gaming

I honestly prefer RE 2 remake to it

I'm over 600h on it and I'm still far from gone. DLC is amazing and could be a game on its own

I'm sure it'll end up in the top spot for many gamers for those reasons. I'm surprised it isn't making these sites, like game Informers, top list actually. Would have expected it to but sure GTA 5 never does and that sold more than any console in existence.

Such a tough decision.

I would say Half Life: 2 (PC) the closest game I would consider was Perfect game.

Honorable close mentions would be below not in any order,
Mario Galaxy
Zelda BOTY
Warcraft: 3
Perfect Dark
Halo: 3
Homeworld

I second Half-Life 2, it's my favorite game of all time (but up there), but for what it did, what it was, and the overall incredible quality of almost every single aspect of it, it needs to be "single best" game of all time for me.

My favorite game of all time is "Betrayal at Krondor" - I replay it once every year.

Honorable mentions and far up on the list for me:

Gran Turismo 4
Deus Ex
Thief 2: The Metal Age
Heroes of Might & Magic III
Civilization IV
The Witcher 3
Diablo II

Half-Life 2 is a true masterpiece. It’s in my top 10 and I would not complain if it was coronated greatest of all time.

But I replied because I want to cheer your inclusion of Deus Ex. That is my pick for best PC game ever, and my #2 overall just behind Breath of the Wild. It’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime transcendent games.
