Thankfully there’s a wealth of RPGs to try.
I’m just going to throw a list of games that grabbed my attention in your direction.

NEO: The World Ends With You, Grandia, Sea of Stars, Tactics Ogre.

Etrian Odyssey III, Live A Live, Moon: Remix RPG, Unicorn Overlord.

Cassette Beasts, and Dicey Dungeons.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is worth watching to see if that elevates the series enough to earn your play time.

13 sentinels was superb. Triangle Strategy was excellent.
For a standard jrpg I thought Arise was one of the best in a long time.

Yep, I'm playing 13 sentinals more now, still in early game but I understand what they are doing now rather than the confusion to what was even happening first time I tried it. Seems like it's gonna be a gem.

Oh, I forgot about Unicron Overlord. There's a 10 hour demo for that isn't there. I findbit odd that the game seems to play itself though.

It’s unique. A return to the old Ogre Battle series that hadn’t seen an update in 23 years.
It’s definitely got enough clever ideas and gameplay loop to tinker with, as you figure out where to direct troops and how they will fight in the oncoming battle.

Depends from person to person I think it's a very good JRPG, others don't care about it. It has good reviews though.

For sure.  I loved Arise because the story was good but not crazy silly.  Fun characters with good progression and the side quests were not filler junk, but actually good.  The battle system was loads of fun too.  It had a great old school vibe with great art style.

i7-13700k

Vengeance 32 gb

RTX 4090 Ventus 3x E OC

Switch OLED

Disgaea 1 I would highly recommend to people who love

1. Anime
2. Strategy JRPGs
3. Comedy

Its on both PS4 and Switch

Thanks for the suggestions people, keep em coming. I've pushed and gotten quite into 13 sentinals (although it's a graphic novel with strategic battles) and I now have two new games to look forward to in Gran blu fantasy relink and Shin Megami Tensie 3 Nocturn if not SMT 5. More suggestions appreciated.
