How short? A dev told it was between 12 and 15 hours, which is pretty good for a platformer.

Apparently it's 12-16 hours for the platinum, not campaign. I don't think this will be enough for a 94 Opencritic.

Astro's Playroom had 4 stages (16 sections) and a speedrun mode and I clocked 7 hours on it, Astro Bot having 80 stages (dunno how big, if more like a section or a stage from Playroom) should get me more than 20 hours easily.

I love collecting every single stuff and enjoying the stages in the first time, tho.

I think some "planets" have only items in them and take less than a minute to beat lol. We'll find out soon enough.

On HowLongToBeat, for "completionists":

Rescue Mission: 13.5 hours

Astro's Playroom: 5 hours

Looks like AstroBot PS5 is about 20-30% longer than the PS4/VR game. I was hoping it's closer to twice as long. But there will be some free DLC released before year's end that could give it a few extra hours. I read somewhere that "time attacks" aren't available at release.

Mario Wonder is only like 15-20hr for 100%, and it got like a 92OC if I’m remembering correctly? Undertale is another short game with a very high OC. Many examples you can point to.

Short games can still score high but they're naturally at a disadvantage compared to longer games, provided the "quality per hour" is equalised. 9 hours of Astro campaign greatness obviously won't be as good as 16 hours of them.

I still predict 92 which is quite high, and I'm not ruling out a 94, but it will be more difficult for sure. When was the last time a short AA or AAA game scored 94?

If you mean for a game on Playstation... really dunno, maybe never? lol. Little Big Planet could be considered small, if so, that.

The thing is, which I have been saying since the PS4 released, I don't see a single Sony game getting a 95 anymore, and have been right so far, nearly 2 full gens and only a Remaster from a already 95 game (TLoU) sits at a 95 so far.

So I would be massively surprised if Astro Bot gets a 94, to me it borders the impossible, literally only God of War games did that, TLoU 2, Uncharted 4, both Horizons, both Gran Turismos, Ghost of Tsushuma, none could get that 94...

Sony games usually are the most scrutinized, only when the PS3 was doing kinda bad/mid the reviews went a bit up.

It's amazing to see it hit a 94 at 79 reviews! The score will probably go down a point or two when troll reviews hit. Huge congrats to Team Asobi!! JAPAN STUDIO IS ALIVE BABY.

Astro Bot reviews are in and right now it's at 94 on OpenCritic after 23 reviews! (moving back and forth between 93 and 94). A killer score, seems like 3D Mario has competition for the first time in forever!

Now this is the sad part. I still want Rebirth to win this.
