PS5 in 2023 has now sold as much as 2022, 2021 and 2020 combined with 5 weeks still left in the year.

Crazy. How much did the PS4 sell in Japan until December 2016?

Switch got a mid-year boost with ToTK and the Mario movie which wasn't going to be repeatable.

If you're seeing decline like this just weeks after Mario Wonder, it was always gonna get ugly in 2024 when you don't have a ToTK or 1+ billion Mario movie to boost sales.

Summer launch for Switch 2 if they have the software ready might not be a bad idea, the sooner the better.

This looks even more like an allocation thing than a demand thing. 3 weeks in a row between 65k and 71k.

Series being almost lower than PS4 and 30:1 with PS5 is just crazy. Switch legs is just moronically strong.

From what I saw in some other threads we have PS5 tracking about PS4 and PS3 in Japan (USA as well, Europe is the only market where it is below PS4).

Switch hardware sales have been crazy this year.  After the release of TotK, it sold a lot for long time.  Longer than can be explained by the release of one game, in fact.  Now we are in the holiday season and sales are disappointing.  It's like some of the holiday sales numbers got transferred to the middle of the year.

Mario movie was probably a big factor in those Spring/Summer sales
