Resident Evil 4. Good game, but I don't think remakes deserve to get GOTY nominations, there should be a separate award category each year for best remake/remaster.

RE4 Remake is fundamentally more different than RE4 than TOTK/SM2 are to their predecessors, though.

It's not like it's just a remaster or a re-release.

Seems like a stretch.  RE 4 remake is amazing but other than a few sections being changed it is the same game.  At least 75% of the game is a better looking version of the original.  Tears had a whole new build system.  It had new shrines, temples, entire sky area and added the depths.

Don't get me wrong I went through RE4 remake twice, superb game.  But I didn't find it that changed from the original.

Starfield does not deserve Game of the Year consideration and I'm glad to see that it didn't slip into a nomination simply from being a high profile release. It's better for the industry when major studios are held accountable for their missteps and I'm hoping that it will also benefit Bethesda in the long run to eat a little humble pie now. Mostly Mixed review scores on Steam is not a good look.

The fact that Hogwarts got zero nominations shows what a joke this show is.

Yeah being passed over for GOTY is understandable in such a stacked year, but not even getting a nod for art direction or musical score smacks of them being too scared to touch it.

I'm personally disappointed that FFXVI wasn't nominated but then I look at the list we got and...yeah, the list is fine. All but Alan Wake are 90+ scores and while I personally feel FFXVI also deserves that, the reality is that it didn't get that.

The list is fine but I agree with others that 10 nominations would make more sense. Could add in Street Fighter VI, Final Fantasy, Hogwarts Legacy, and Starfield.

Yeah, that game's GREAT but to claim it's MORE unique than spider-Man 2 and Tears of the kingdom? hah, nope. That's just silly.

Spider-Man 2 has tonnes of new gameplay mechanics, a whole new segment of the map, and a new and great story.

Tears of the Kingdom retools so much of its map while adding two more maps and doing 150+ new shrines with over a hundred new lightroots and 1000 new korok seeds all on top of completely new gameplay systems.

Reusing assets (like a map or animation) does not make the game the same. This is an argument that needs to die.

I'm surprised Star wars Jedi: Survivor wasn't named on the snub list.

That's a snub in and of itself.

Worst take I've ever seen on this site.
And that's saying something.
