Star Wars Outlaws will be an interesting one to watch; it's a very technically ambitious game, utilizing ray-traced lighting on all platforms with no lower tech fallback, and running at 1080p-720p at 30fps on Xbox Series S.

Getting it running on Switch 2 in a solid state will be a challenge, but if they manage to pull it off, it could be a good indicator of the hardware's capabilities as far as handling demanding current gen console titles.

Yeah, given how poorly it runs and looks on the Steam Deck and Series S, it will be interesting how it looks on Switch 2.

I think Nvidia's efficiency when it comes to ray-tracing titles is going to impress us here though.

Using Chat GPT is letting a machine do critical thinking for you. So yeah, anyone using it and posts here as some sort of argument. Insta block. Not going to think for yourself? Not worth reading. Years down the line, relying on AI to think for you, you'll no longer be cognizant. If that's the way you want to live. Feel free. I also choose to stop acknowledging the existence of your account.

Jesus, dramatic much?

I think you'e confused over the definition of critical thinking.

I didn't prompt it for an opinion on how I should think about XYZ, I asked it to scrape the internet for info about the chip in the dock. Using AI to search for information is not abdicating critical thinking.

If you think I'm the only one on here using ChatGPT or it's ilk as a better google then you're delusional.

And if you think I'm bothered about some snooty rando on a games forum blocking me I don't know what to tell you...

I'm a designer so may not have a trade in 5 years due to AI, but I can't deny that it has it's uses & we're not putting the genie back in the bottle.

I think it also says volumes that you've not responded to the substance of my point (neither the initial 'AI-assisted' initial post or the 'human-powered' follow-up).

Your assertion is that because the dock has a chip that it can't be under $10 to produce.

An NFC sticker contains a chip... A greeting card can contain a chip...

Either show evidence that the dock's chip cost is high enough to render a $10 dock cost impossible (if you can I'll change my position) & stop obfuscating with AI-bad puritanism or block me like a big-man, I honestly couldn't give a shit.

I agree, I don't think they'll do the Switch Home either.

I reckon the dock will cost them about $5 to $10 so can't see them knocking off $100...

Costs more than that. It has a processor inside it.

It seems to be a simple converter chip.

And guess what... the Switch 1 dock also has small chips for special tasks:

Bit of false equivalence going on here, the PS5 doesn't have many of the components & power constraints that a S2 has to include/contend with.

You can compare any handheld on the market and make it look bad by comparing it to a similarly priced console or PC.

All I'm saying is that if I'm a non-biased gamer (which I am), and trying to decide which console is going to provide me the best tech for the money, it's certainly not going to be the Switch 2. Ever since Wii, Nintendo has released hardware that either can't run that gen's most advanced software, or runs it worse. So why would I bother with Nintendo? There most certainly won't be GTA 6 on that system. And if there is, it definitely won't be the definitive version. And that goes for anything else that is graphically intense.

But i don't see how you can compare Switch 2 to a home console, there is no handheld system as of now that can deliver PS5 fidelity or performance. So its obvious that if you don't care about portability or about Nintendo games, then yes the PS5 will be the better choice of hardware for your personal preferences. That's not some kind of profound revelation that if you buy hardware based on how to best run third party AAA games, the Switch 2 won't be the best alternative for you.

Lots of praise for how good Cyberpunk 2077 looks on the Switch 2, better than Steam Deck and PS4 from a build that's only 7 weeks old and apparently doesn't even have DLSS implemented yet.

Becoming more and more obvious this ain't the freaking Wii-DS-Wii U-3DS era Nintendo anymore like some people were so desperate to cling to. This is actually a fairly decent piece of kit.

I can't count how many times I saw AI telling me that ___ was true via a search and it wasn't. Right now, AI is impressive but still kind of stupid. Definitely not something you should stake your name on.

I agree with you, but since Nintendo has decided to voluntarily no longer sell home consoles, the Switch 2 docked is the only way to play their games on a TV. So we're sort of forced to compare it to what Sony is doing. And if you're someone who likes all games, not just what Nintendo is putting out, you're going to have to make a decision. Do you want half-baked ports and Nintendo games that don't really look all that much better than last gens? Or do you want the best third party support, fully-baked versions without any Nintendo games? It's a problem.

Well, not for those of us who get multiple systems.

But still.

It would be nice if we could get something like a PS5 Pro Nintendo back ala SNES. Imagine the next Zelda launching along side GTA 6. It would slay the industry and save a lot of us a ton of money.

Bragging about it running games better than a console that launched in 2013 is not exactly breaking free from the Wii-U era. Actually, it's right on par.

It's significantly better than a PS4 which was a home console that plugs into like 100 watts of electricity, it's looking better than a Steam Deck.

It looks very much worth it's $450 price point considering it has a bigger, higher resolution screen than the $399.99 Steam Deck and more storage than the $399.99 Deck, on top of magnetic controllers that can detach and function like a mouse and a TV dock that has active cooling.

This ain't the fucking Wii U era anymore, Nintendo is making solid hardware again. Things like Street Fighter VI look better than a XBox Series S, even the "fixed" version.

This thing is going to be able to run a decent version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (the PS5 exclusive one) from the looks of things. To be able to play that scale of a game on a Nintendo portable is going to be outstanding.
