Well they been saying they wanna make enough consoles where they won't have shortages. Nvda especially can't catch up because ai chip demand so it would make sense for them to make a deal and start manufacturing in 2021. this guy would not be confirming 8nm if he didn't have a reliable source and he's also ppointing all the things he got wrong but well have to wait and see, my bet is he is right.

That's not how this works. You don't guarantee  stock by overpaying during the peak of a silicon shortage (that was in 2021) three years before you plan to release the platform in question.

You wait to invest when prices drop and yield rates increase through a new node process.

And if you are Nintendo, a company that has gone from selling 105 million consoles to 13 million and then back up to >130 million, you don't start to manufacture your next platform 3 years early when sales projections are far less precise. Again, especially during the peak of a silicon shortage.

Ok what's  excuse you are gonna make when this guy ends up being right lol?

Do you talk about topics you have knowledge about or is your thing to misunderstand snippet quotes from domain experts and spread misinformation? You've done it quite a few times in this thread.

Like the "DLSS looks better at 30fps" thing that you conveniently forgot about when somebody informed you that you misunderstood the point being made in the Digital Foundry video you sourced, lol.

The size of the device is not determined by the die size but the power consumption of it. It's just a bit of a waste to run a big chip at very low clocks and power.

It would be highly unusual and a pretty large waste. You'd be clocking way below a Switch 1. At 4 nm the chip would be basically more in line with the Tegra X1, which to me would make a lot more sense.

He also seems like he's not really sure about his speculation, 2/3 things wrong by his admission and then by placing a "?" behind the other two comments.

I'm also not sure how one mixes up "Tim Drake" with "Dane Whitman" on the basis that both have a "D" in them, lol.

It does look better at 30fps from 4k to 720p. It's not wrong. so what will be the excuse when this guy ends up being right?

Nowhere in the video was this stated. What was stated (and the point of the video) was that the overhead due to DLSS Ultra Performance potentially restricts 720p-> 4k to 30fps rather than 60fps and 720p -> 1440p 60fps might be a more attainable target.

That you still think that the argument being made is that "it looks better at 30fps" precisely supports my point.

PS5 can barely run anything at 4K/60 anyway, like maybe some weak PS4 ports, but even more challenging PS4 era games like Control are a no go at 4K/60, so if a Switch 2 was trying to do a difficult port of a PS5 game, likely it's going to be either 4K/30 or 1440p/60. So I don't think that's much of an issue.

In the video he says 30fps can generate a better image. i'm a little busy but i remember him saying that.

So I have made some screenshots from Cyberpunk on my FHD monitor (supposed resolution of Switch 2) usig DLSS and you have to guess the base resolution.

Spoiler!

DLSS ultra performance, so 360p resolution. Expect Jensen's black magic to be the standard for mobile mode.

I just watched the video, he doesn't say it.

He suggests that "perhaps" they can reduce DLSS quality (and therefore overhead) to hit the 60fps target. That's the closest thing to suggesting what you think he was, but it was purely speculation about how it could be done given the assumptions made in the video, not a general statement about DLSS or about what will be done.

Part II of guess the base resolution in Witcher 3 NG.

Spoiler!
Same as before DLSS ultra performance so 360p base res.
