I disagree that misgendering someone should be considered a transphobic comment. You can be pro-trans and still believe that sex and gender are the same thing. It's not about whether you believe gender is a meaningless cultural construct, but whether you believe people should be free to live their own lives without persecution and bullying. That being said, I'll just use someone's first name and avoid pronouns altogether if I suspect they are trans.

As long as you aren't hurting others you should be free to live your life however you want without being bullied.

May or may not be transphobic, but it certainly falls within the "don't be a dick head" category of rules and that seems pretty reasonable to me to ban someone.

...

It was really meant to just be a list about how light moderation has been lately and to show some transparency, to also show that the vast majority of moderations are still happening for gaming related trolling and that the days issued are still fairly light too, I liked writing up those stats either way, but since this thread has seemingly became a Mods are to blame for VGChartz's declining forum, I wanted to post some actual stats and transparency.

There may be some debateable moderations in there, or the reasons may not be clear enough, then again I could remove some of the pretty damn blatant infractions that nobody could argue against, like Kirby's NSFW posting, or straight up flaming and that would cut the actual list down even further, but the point wasn't really to debate each individual moderation.

Just trying to be a little transparent when the Mod team are being attacked but it my backfire into becoming a "Mod Thread" Lol. Also don't attack users who are still active, their moderations are in the past, and all these moderations would have been public anyway at the time of banning. This is just a complete spreadsheet across the year.

For what it's worth, I think moderation here seems excellent. If anything, it's too much bad faith discussion that's being tolerated instead of people being banned arbitrarily, for political views etc. No, I don't think moderation should be stricter in practice, because apparently a lot of people want to discuss in bad faith or otherwise disrespectfully. I think currently it's a pretty sweet spot between keeping discussion civil and being too strict. Thank you for the great work you do!

I think I can see why some people are upset about the moderation, but I don't think I really want to stir up discussion about it. I think it's for the less savoury sides of human behaviour, but I'd rather not go further into that discussion...

There was a Mod once called Kasz I think? And his stance in Politics was that it naturally gets more heated than most areas so he was more relaxed about moderating debates which get heated and whatnot, IIRC...I like to think that's the stance that I've taken for the most part in Politics, I argue with people, a lot, it sometimes gets heated, I've felt insulted multiple times, but I try to avoid moderating people when they directly insult me, Lmao. And that HAS resulted in many users telling me that I'm too easy on them and should just ban them, but I will ban blatantly bigoted stuff or someone supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine, or people insulting other users other than myself. But when I do get sucked into a debate I try to leave my mod hat at the door, Lol. Honestly annoys me when I'm debating and someone mentions my Mod, it makes me want to quit Mod, Lmao. In the Russia-Ukraine thread I was told multiple times I was too soft.

In this very thread in the past few weeks we have had users saying we're too strict and users saying we're too soft, so like, Lol. Fml.

Edit: Nevermind. I see the rules are more clearly defined these days.

Here's some rules I'd like to see added...

1. Don't post an objectively false claim. You can't say that "All PS5 discs are just download keys," for example.
2. Don't post rumors or unsubstantiated claims. A games website or youtuber saying something doesn't necessarily make it true.
3. Understand the difference between objectivity and subjectivity. Understand the difference between a fact and an opinion.

Yeah, ok, I had that one coming. I remember it well.

But guys......There is more to life than POLITICS !!!!!

And, there is more to life than VIDEO GAMES !!!!

Have a nice life !!!!!!

GOODBYE !!!!!!

What caused KLXVER's ban?

He seemed like a nice guy and typically had unique views.  Seems like he was being difficult and harsh with his posts, at least according to his profile.

He should have called for the murder of an entire political party, less punishment (1 wk versus his 2 wk ban).
