Forums - Movies & TV - Napoleon trailer - Ridley Scott's new epic

Historical dramas have some fatal flaws. Firstly, they are dramatizations and embellishments, so you don't really know how much you can trust to be true. Secondly, if you know history, you will know how they end, so the story is spoiled by default.

Yeah well, that's why nobody was watching "The Titanic" in the movies. Major spoiler: the ship sinks...

Should have cast Danny DeVito as Napoleon...

Napoleon was not "small". Somehow the picure of a tiny man has made it into people's minds. It simply isn't true. For example, Prussian emperor Frederic the Great is never pictured as "small" although he was 3inches smaller than Napoleon. Call it "fake news of the 1800s".

Looks glorious.

Looks really good. Like others have said its been so long since we had a proper historical epic.

Kind of throws me off that they're all speaking English. Feel it would be much more immersive if they spoke French instead.

Easy, you just to a french movie theater 😎

No idea what you mean, everything in Braveheart is historically accurate.

Yeah, literally. It was British propaganda.

Looks beautiful, and Phoenix seems amazing in it too - I love that restrained, 'socially awkward but doesn't give a shit' psychopath vibe he has going on - but, uh, there's an obvious language and accent issue.
