This proves that gamers who also spend time on gaming websites and have an interest in the debate tend to find 60FPS very important, this does not prove that ''most'' gamers prefer it. I'd reckon most gamers don't even know what the difference would be.

The title of the article is ''Do you care about 60fps on PS5?''. Someone who truly doesn't care, is not even going to bother reading it, let alone cast a vote. This is going to attract more people who are invested in the topic than people who don't care. 13k is also just about 0.035% of the 38 million PS5 owners. This poll, as so many before it, is just an echo chamber.

Why would anyone buy a ps5 if 60fps doesn't matter? PS4 and ps5 have basically the same games so far. I can guarantee  you anyone that plays, COD online would feel a massive difference between 60fps and 30fps. same thing for sports games, and sim racers.

I don't know why anyone would buy a PS5 either, I'm not randomly going to assume it is because 60fps matters. Perhaps it is because things look prettier, as you have said yourself (if I remember correctly) that companies focus on graphics to sell games. Whether or not COD gamers would feel the difference is completely besides the point. This was never about one being better than the other, generally speaking 60fps is going to be better, it provides a smoother experience. Any fast paced competitive games are going to benefit from a higher FPS. This is about who cares about it, and stating 'most gamers do' is simply not correct.

You missed the part where i said gamers that care about graphics and frame rate. So if a gamer cares about those things they generally prefer framerate.

Because it has a 5 at the end.

The vast majority of playstation gamers had never experienced 4k prior to PS5. The vast majority are propelled by marketing, hype and do not want to be missing out on whatever benefits they may be getting. Fifa and COD were 60fps last gen, so 60fps is not new to PS5. Plenty of other experiences such as Spiderman, Horizon & Ratchet were marketed and play at a default 30fps.

You are assuming the average consumer knows nothing about tech and just gonna lay out 500$  with out doing any research. Almost every poll that compares graphics vs frame rate. Frame rate vastly wins. besides PS4 PRO had 4k already. almost every game has 60fps option now so developers can clearly see its important feature for many. Are we just ignore just every single data point we get and say people don't care and are buying PS5 cause it has 5 in the end.

I don't care at all. I don't how many FPS there are and I don't care. Doesn't make the a difference to me.

I promise you the average consumers knows very little about the tech they're using other than a few buzzwords and the general gaming population isn't on forums of dedicated game sites answering polls. That doesn't mean they don't do any research. As someone who doesn't care massively about FPS I still bought a PS5 because it's the future of all playstation games and will offer an objectively better experience on crossgen titles whether its improved resolution, controller feedback, fps or graphical detail.

More important than any poll is actually user data which developers get back. I would bet big money that Ratchet, Miles and Horizon are mostly played in 30fps because that's the default setting and most gamers have no actual issue with a smooth 30fps experience.

I think showing the consumer 30fps vs 60fps is the easiest sell ever, the difference is a massive and a easy sell.  if my PS5 didn't run the games i wanted at 60fps i would have never bought a ps5.

1. For loading times. It makes a huge difference in GT7 as I've played it on both ps4 pro and ps5. The graphics are not all that different and both run 60fps, yet with all the menu hopping loading times make a huge difference! (Hence daily races are split between the ps4 and ps5 version)
2. PSVR2, same reason I bought a ps4 pro. VR can use the extra power since that's far from hitting diminishing returns. And I'll buy a PS5 pro if available at some point.
3. Even though 60fps doesn't matter, you still get longer draw distances, less pop in (much faster asset streaming as well), and higher resolution with better AA.

And the biggest reason for the 'casual' gamer, it's the new Playstation. Fomo and peer pressure. Must have new gadget.

Strange, I would rather have both at a minimum, oh wait you can.
