Did not know that (and I checked and I do have the first game) - might try it out, been needing to start on a western RPG.

I can get into my reasoning with you after the showcase if you like. In short, I was expecting Avowed to look more like their simulated gameplay from their CG reveal trailer. It doesn't really look like much of an improvement at all over The Outer Worlds in my eyes, even though Outer Worlds was last gen and Avowed next-gen only. I also had high expectations because we saw in job listings over a year ago that Avowed had switched from Unreal 4 to Unreal 5, and so far most Unreal 5 games have had stunning top-of-the-line graphics. Like I said before, I'm still hyped for Avowed, it just isn't quite what I was expecting graphically.

My silly rating:

Overall an 8/10 for me.

Kind of surprised it was only ~65 minutes, was expecting closer to 90. Would have liked to see another surprise or two. 

Best show of the year so far, and by a comfortable margin. I think probably the best Xbox Showcase for me since like 2020. I think.

Yes, that was a concern for me and it became true, was hoping for a 25-30m max Starfied direct but we get nearly 1 hour and it was also featured in the main show.

Still, the show was great overall, with good pacing, and a good mix of smaller-scope titles and AAA. A lot of First party studios stuff. GamePass value is definitely growing in 2024.

The rest of 2023 looks a little dry though.

Pros

• Fable, Midnight, Forza, Clockwork, Starfield all looked excellent first party wise
• A pretty good Japanese showing for Xbox
• Some good 3rd party reveals
• Lots of Gamepass games
• The 1 TB S model looks great

Cons

• The much needed S price cut didn't happen
• Avowed was a bit of a letdown graphically for me, though gameplay still looked great (and I have no doubt that Obsidian will deliver a good storyline and soundtrack)
• Shorter Xbox portion than I wanted to see, when the total length of the show leaked as just over an hour and 50 minutes, I was expecting about 1 hour and 25-30 minutes for Xbox and 20-25 minutes for the Starfield direct
• Contraband a no-show even though it was announced 2 years ago and was said to have entered development in 2019 or early 2020

Starfield looks absolutely phenomenal, easy GOTG contender.

I give it a 9/10. Persona 3 Remake, Persona 5 Tactica, Yakuza, and Metaphor Re Fantazio were all great announcements from Atlus/Sega. Sega really blew their load at this showcase. Clockwork looks great, Starfield looks amazing, Hellblade 2 still looking phenomenal but I was hoping for more than just seeing Senua walk. Also the Fable trailer was kind of disappointing imo. I didn't have an issue with the new art style but I kind of expected to see more.
