What if SMS next project is a reimagining of Twisted Metal? Or they go deeper into the vault with something like Everquest lol?

Ashlong has said before that he was "unsure" of how people would react to Santa Monica's next game. Jason Schreier has said that while its not an original IP, it will feel like one, and I can't imagine an Atreus spinoff doing that.

An Atreus game would fit both, because I certainly don't want one, for example, and it would definitely not feel like GoW without Kratos.

I sure hope it ends up being some other IP and not a third GoW...

Their main game should always be GoW but branching teams should definitely try something else.

Pretty sure Everquest doesn't belong to Sony. I don't think it ever belonged to SIE when the studio was owned by Sony.

BUT a Twisted Metal? I could see it... could be like their take on the Mad Max game with both on-foot and vehicular combat.

I dunno. This is like saying Uncharted can't work without Drake and Lost Legacy proves it can as long as it's related to the source material enough. I think they've done enough to establish Atreus as a character (even being playable in Ragnarok). And his story has a lot more forward momentum going for it right now than Kratos' post-Valhalla DLC.

Maybe as an open-world based game (no realm hopping), making it more RPGish like Dragon Age Veilguard while retaining the combat style, I think can open up a lot of possibilities.

Not saying can't work, but the hint we got, as he mentioned, was that this already existing IP would both feel like something new and potentially have mixed views, and a God of War without Kratos fits both of those pretty damn well.

I don't hate Atreus, but don't like him either, for me Kratos alone or Kratos + Freya if the next game could be another Nordic game would be much preffered.

The point is, a God of War game without Kratos has the potential to let down/piss off a lot if not most of the fanbase, and definitely would be something that feel strange about the IP.

God of War is way, way more depedant on Kratos, the god of war, than Uncharted ever was on Nathan Drake.

I was expecting more from Japan but it looks like Patapon sales number won't be game changer.

Easy good money for Sony because they didn't do anything other than licensing the ip lol, probably a good business for Bandai because the less than 500k is kind of their territory and they cover the rest of their business with arena anime fighters. Now let's see if the sales are good enough for Bandai to put the work in the third game, the first two were already remastered lol. I hope they do, I like Patapon so the more platinums the better.

Next one, Everybody's Golf Hot Shot.

I mean, I'm personally open to anything. But I'll admit that Kratos + Freya is another Norse game is not what I'd want. I'm not sure what's really left to tell. If it were, say, a Norse/ Greece adventure I'd be more on board. Going to Greece to fix past mistakes, but also having whatever is left of the Greek Gods potentially moutning an attack on what's left of the Norse Gods could make for an interesting story.

But yeah, a spin-off with Atreus I think works too. Good opportunity to start exploring other smaller mythologies that they may not want to explore in a major game. I recall Egypt being a potential opton before they settled on the Nordic region. So, I would imagine that Egypt plays a role in a new Kratos title rather than an Atreus one.

Anyways... more GOW is not a bad thing depending on how it grows. But I just want the PS2 titles playable on PS5 (even as a classics), Ascension remastered, and the 2D GoW to be a Betrayal Remake. Then at least the entire canon series is available to play.

I tried to play Patapon but couldn't get into it.

But the sales aren't surprising... but honestly... why aren't Bluepoint doing a Souls Sacrifice remake after Demon's Souls... so much potential there.

That game had Monster Hunter elements right? That's the kind of game I'm expecting from the Horizon Multiplayer. I'm quite optimistic about that project because unless it's a battle royale or a hero team based game (LOL) I trust in Guerrilla and I always thought in the world of Horizon the machines are the bigger characters so whatever that project is it's time to show off the machines.

Sony recently acquired a 2.5% stake in Bandai Namco.

Its mostly an anime venture but I wouldn't be surprised if Bandai is working on some dormant IP's.

Gravity Rush collection + Gravity Rush anime + Gravity Rush 3 would be my ideal wishlist from this lol.

Would need to be a reboot that's for sure. I'm surprised no one at Sony (or maybe they have) have pitched a Wonder Woman/ Super Girl game but instead of paying those license fees just use a new version of Kat instead.

Also, ChinaJoy coming up. I don't expect announcements, but would be nice if Sony did an SoP with updates on China Hero Project (add in the India Hero Project too) for more exposure.
