I don't hate Atreus, but don't like him either, for me Kratos alone or Kratos + Freya if the next game could be another Nordic game would be much preffered. The point is, a God of War game without Kratos has the potential to let down/piss off a lot if not most of the fanbase, and definitely would be something that feel strange about the IP. God of War is way, way more depedant on Kratos, the god of war, than Uncharted ever was on Nathan Drake. |
I mean, I'm personally open to anything. But I'll admit that Kratos + Freya is another Norse game is not what I'd want. I'm not sure what's really left to tell. If it were, say, a Norse/ Greece adventure I'd be more on board. Going to Greece to fix past mistakes, but also having whatever is left of the Greek Gods potentially moutning an attack on what's left of the Norse Gods could make for an interesting story.
But yeah, a spin-off with Atreus I think works too. Good opportunity to start exploring other smaller mythologies that they may not want to explore in a major game. I recall Egypt being a potential opton before they settled on the Nordic region. So, I would imagine that Egypt plays a role in a new Kratos title rather than an Atreus one.
Anyways... more GOW is not a bad thing depending on how it grows. But I just want the PS2 titles playable on PS5 (even as a classics), Ascension remastered, and the 2D GoW to be a Betrayal Remake. Then at least the entire canon series is available to play.

I tried to play Patapon but couldn't get into it.
But the sales aren't surprising... but honestly... why aren't Bluepoint doing a Souls Sacrifice remake after Demon's Souls... so much potential there.
