I thought it was a space game because of Barlog's twitter account lol. In 2019 when the season 1 of Mandalorian was airing he started to tweet a lot about space and inspiration, changed his header to a picture of stars (it was about GOW before the change) and said that it would be cool to have a game about a space bounty hunter traveling through the galaxy, that's when a lot of people assumed it was a space game. Ironically at least the bounty hunter part is in the premise of Naughty Dog's Intergalactic. And yes it could be GOW, after all GOW fits the description of existing IP lol. The only reason I don't go directly to think about GOW is that when he presented Eric Williams as the director of GOWR it felt like one of those passing the torch moments. It would be weird to do that and then immediately make a new GOW where he is the director again lol. |
haha for sure. Who knows, might be a different branch of GoW with a different type of gameplay focus. He surprised us with GoW2018, so I'm sure if it is GoW he'll be able to do it again.

So he may have left the GoW team to go and make... more GoW? lol It's definitely more believable than Santa Monica working on someone's else IP but kinda boring as well, why make 2 GoW teams and not something else... Santa Monica was deeply involved with The Order, right? But I remember there being talk about nothing about that IP being worked atm some time ago. It would be wild if they were the ones to bring Jak back too, since Naughty Dog is clearly never touching it anymore. |
There's def a lot of IP that SMS have been attached to, but outside of Kinetica, GoW is the only IP the studio has ever made games on.
But I'd be open to him exploring other Sony IP if that's what he wants.

Not gonna comment on the quality of the titles haha, but some of these take me back. Nice collection you picked up!
I'm curious about ChainDrive since it's a Sony IP if I am not mistaken.
