Taking into account how big of a live service titles Tokon could be for Sony, I wouldn't be surprised if every SOP going forward includes a character reveal, including the Yotei SOP for July.

not sure if this was posted already; however, this is the equivalent to Nintendo announcing “Switch 2 is now top of mind” back in October 2021. They still have half the gen left lol. Granted, if next gen Xbox does release—for instance—in 2027, then it does make sense why Sony is moving so soon. But…IDK. This just doesn’t sit right with me.

I'm hoping PS6 comes out in 2027 at the earliest - no need for a new console.

Also hope its b/c and if it is, I'll buy it day 1.

If the portable PS5 is real, virtually all PS6 games will have a PS5 version for the whole generation.

Not particularly a problem to me, PS5 is a really powerful system and we would get completely out of the HDD era, so games always being crossgen mean nothing if the quality is there for both versions.

I don't think a 2D fighting game can be that big to begin with, regarless of how good it is or the IPs involved.

That being said, I hope we do get characters reveals regularly before and after the game launches (season pass/dlc), and that both Playstation and other IPs get added as well.

If Sony is considering acquiring ASW, which was a rumor not long after the PS5 got released and now as Sony owns the biggest fighting games event in the world, that would make a lot of sense, then they should start to develop some of their characters into the genre and ultimately get their own version of Marvel vs Capcom, which Tokon clearly is getting into.

In actual context it makes much more sense.

For sure, Sony know that neither developers or gamers are ready to leave the current gen anytime soon. I don't think they're in a rush to push out the next playstation, but it will be the biggest reframing of what a generational leap means for them and undoubtably PS5 is still part of that framework. They just want investors to know that they are paying attention to how the industry is changing. Software will lowkey be hardware agnostic and more innovative software is the only thing I think we really need on the PS5 side of things.

PS6 ain't coming before late 2027 at the earliest (that's 7 years after PS5 launched). 2028 is the right time imo. Whatever Microsoft does will be irrelevant unless they return to exclusivity out of nowhere.

And there isn't much harm in PS6 launching early, knowing most games will be crossgen again for several years. Playstation remains comfortably the best supported console as far as relevant 3rd party games, as a matter of fact it just got an upgrade of receiving Microsoft's support. Like the PS4 and unlike the Switch, PS5's post replacement support will last for a long long time. The fact that PS4 remains strong after all these years bodes well for the PS5, and not so well for the PS6 in the early years.

PS5 is not in trouble, the PS6 is. If Sony don't improve their output and return to true exclusivity, they'll increasingly find it harder to convince their existing playerbase to upgrade, and will bleed players and lose potential newcomers to other platforms.

They are likely gonna call it something else instead of "PS5 Portable".

I made it to Mission 16, 20 hours in.

The V mission where you fight the earlier bosses again, had a hard time fighting the Angelo clone because I chose Griffon first - Shadow is obviously the best choice for that fight. 

Thankfully grabbed the blue orb fragment and got a whole blue orb which restored my health so I didnt have to waste a gold orb.

The next two fights were easy, Griffon obliterated Artemis clone and Goliath was a joke.
