Looks like Age of Empires will be the next to make the PS jump. Starting with 2.

Although this was reported by Tom Warren months ago, "As part of Project Latitude, Microsoft has also been considering launching Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition on rival consoles in early 2025, and its upcoming remastered spinoff, Age of Mythology: Retold, could come, too."

Not sure if anyone but @the-pi-guy might care though

Age of Empires II is one hell of a great game, having a platinum for it will be awesome, that is, if it doesn't demand actually beating people online, because some people are really damn good at it.

T90Official Youtube channel is great to keep up with AoE 2 if anyone that liked the game still doesn't know him, lol.

Love the T90 callout! It's a hell of a Platinum if you do want to try to get it though lol.

Hopefully the base 100 achievements are all that's needed for the Platinum. There's been sooooooo many expansions that have released since the games launch that there's currently 275 achievements total probably gonna be more since another expansion is releasing this month. So those should be Add-On trophies.

Thankfully, there's only 1 achievement that requires beating players, BUT, you can do private matches with friends to help with that. All the other achievements are winning an AI match with each civilization. Base game there's like 30 (might be more) so that's 30 achievements. As well as beating every campaign mission, which is like 20 achievements. Everything else is doing specific tasks such as converting 100 enemies with Spanish Priests, etc.

I wonder if Sony would be open to licensing the Decima Engine similar to Epic Games and Unreal.

With licensing fees it would make sense to. I do wonder if they would also make it so that there has to be a PS version of any game that uses the engine, also works to ensure no games using the engine don't run on their console.

Decima is a great engine, it's too bad we don't see more teams using it.

I have the same feelings for id Tech. One of the best engines out there and has been the case since the 90s. Before Unreal Engine took off, most games were using Renderware or id Tech. Then when Bethesda bought id Software, the engine became proprietary. It was used on several Bethesda games initially, but now the engines latest iteration, id Tech 7, only has a single game in its catalog with Doom Eternal. And the next-gen patch the game had looked absolutely phenomenal! And I imagine Doom The Dark Ages will use id Tech 8.

I was hoping the engine would now become more utilized at least within Xbox's studios, but they've since quadrupled down on Unreal Engine lol. And with id Tech clearly still being used as a multiplat engine (Doom 2016 and Eternal even came to the Switch, and Dark Ages releasing day one on PS5) they may as well start licensing it out to whoever wants to use it. Unreal Engine is becoming a bit too much of a monopoly lol.

Licensing out engines at least brings in an additional revenue stream for the studios who maintain them.

I dont love the Horizon games, but damned if they dont look and run amazingly. I wish Decima would be used on more games, at least for Playstation.

I just played Forbidden West, PS5 only dlc, Burning Shores and that thing is incredibly beautiful.

Liked Zero Dawn Frozen Wilds quite a bit better than it, tho.

I believe there were rumours of Bend using it for their next game. If true, I hope they can port over the weather system from Day's Gone. That would be mad.

Finished Astro Bot plus all the current (available) DLC levels. One of the quicker plats coming in at around 15hrs. The one word I’ll use is “relentless”, it’s non stop from start to finish. Relentless charm, relentless fun. Not my favourite PlayStation game this year though, that’s still Rise of the Rōnin but AB easily lives up to the hype.

Next up, Dragon Age 4.
