Economy is going brilliantly guys, the stock market is high!

Regarding inflation data, 0.3% for the month should be plenty to vindicate the Fed for not lowering rates and keep them on the "wait and see" track a while longer. While 2.7% yearly isn't terrible on its face, it coincided with a decrease in real earnings, so if this keeps up, we'll be back in a rough spot of inflation outpacing wage growth (as long as wage growth stays higher). Further, looking back at last year's numbers, we'd need a 0.4% increase next month to get back to 3.0% yearly which would be pretty bad optics for Trump.

Next economic release on my radar is the preliminary Q2 GDP numbers in a couple weeks. These numbers are essentially going to be the bounce back from the terrible Q1 which was largely caused by a spike in imports to beat the tariffs, so a lot of predictions had some pretty high numbers (GDPnow had 4+% for a short time) but current predictions are more in line with the normal mid 2% (GDPnow at 2.6%). While that number would look pretty normal, it would be a pretty disastrous bounce back and I'd be curious if we'd follow that up by settling into a new norm sub 1%. We need to outpace standard growth for a few quarters to make up for the terrible Q1.

Attended another protest today. This time it was targeting my (and my partner's) alma mater -- Carnegie Mellon University. They were hosting Trump today, and Dave McCormick tonight - despite the students, most faculty, and community opposing it. Next time I get a call about alumni donations they will hear about it. Only will consider donating again if they sign onto the Harvard letter, which Pitt (whose main building is in the background of the picture below) had done easily.

This was a smaller protest (maybe 1,000 people at most), but the most energetic/best speakers of the four or so I have gone to.

Trump Approval Rating: Latest Polls | Silver Bulletin

We still have more damage to come from inflation and tariffs as well.

Latest update now even says -7.6%. Epstein is hurting him badly it seems

Trump is whinging again about the files being fabricated by Obama.

This guy is so stupid, this is absolutely not how you bury a story. If I didn't have any interest in these files before, I would certainly have a lot of interest in them now.

Yeah I think this is the worst possible play the Republicans could have made and they're making things worst by how desperate they're becoming to bury it, Democrats are taking advantage by clearly showing themselves as in favour of releasing the files, while Republicans are unanimously blocking it, a masterclass in a backfire considering Republicans are the ones who said they would release everything, Lol.

All they're doing is making people massively more interested in what the Republicans are hiding.

Thinking about this, yeah, Dems should really double down on attacking this situation.  We really have not seen many cracks in MAGA armor and this is a prime one to keep in the cycle for as long as they can.  If anything, we probably will see someone sacrificed on the alter for this so I wonder who it would be.

You tell em Trump! Keep it up! He doesn't want Qanon/Pizzagate's support anymore! Or support of the MAGA followers who believe there are Epstein files! He doesn't want yo dumb asses anymore! Weaklings!

Lmfao.

We're at the stage where Trump is insulting his own followers and telling them he doesn't want their support anymore.
