WASHINGTON, March 6 (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department is preparing to shut down almost a dozen consulates that are mainly in Western Europe in the coming months and is looking to reduce its workforce globally, multiple U.S. officials said on Thursday.

Leipzig, Hamburg and Dusseldorf in Germany, Bordeaux, Rennes, Lyon and Strasbourg in France, and Florence in Italy were among a list of smaller consulates that the State Department is considering shutting down, three officials said, adding that could still change as some staff were making a case for them to stay open.

Meloni just fallen to her knees in despair at her hero Trump abandoning her country, Lol.

Awww. And Meloni even flexed her fash muscles by trying to prosecute Brian Molko for calling her "pezzo di merde, fascista, razzista."

The United States has told its allies that it does not plan to participate in military exercises in Europe, according to reports.

The move, the latest in Donald Trump's pivot away from the bloc, would see America pull out of exercises beyond those already scheduled for this year.

The withdrawal concerns exercises that are on the "drawing board", according to Swedish newspaper Expressen.

It means that Nato countries will be forced to plan exercises without the participation of the US military, the largest in the alliance.

Mr Trump has repeatedly criticised Nato countries for not meeting the current goal of spending two per cent of GDP on defence, arguing that the disparity puts an unfair burden on the United States.

On Friday, he warned that the US may not defend Nato allies who do not meet the spending target as part of a major shake-up of the alliance.

US ‘to cease all future military exercises in Europe’

At this stage it literally makes no difference whether America is in NATO or whether America is out of NATO, they both at this moment in time mean the exact same thing, it's pretty damn obvious under Trump that America won't honour any NATO commitments, it's fine to say he can't leave NATO without approval of Congress but that's irrelevant, it doesn't mean he needs to respond to NATO's call for help. America is done in NATO under Trump, they're basically opening the door wide open and saying to Russia "Come on in, we won't do fuck all about it"

Yep, the actual reason is the tax cuts for billionaires that Trump unleashed in 2017 but were due to expire this year. Trump wants to make them permanent, but can't without a giant shortfall in the budget (as in, a 4 Trillion shortfall. Yes, with a T, not a B or an M, a T), so they're trying to cut "waste" everywhere for the US and it's economy actually being able to afford it.

"Anyone would do it"

REPORTER: You said on social media that Russia is pounding Ukraine. Why not provide Ukraine with air defenses?

TRUMP: Because I have to know that they want to settle. We want them to settle.

Trump said he finds it "easier" to work with Russia than Ukraine and that Putin "wants to end the war".

Meanwhile from Russia

At the same time, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova dismissed Trump’s threat of new sanctions, claiming that past restrictions have failed to stop Moscow from pursuing its "objectives" in Ukraine. As reported, she shared this with CNN.

“We are not going to give in to anyone,” he declared, rejecting the idea of making concessions. Instead, he insisted that Russia must choose a peace deal that suits its interests and would “ensure long-term stability and security.” He went even further, stating that Russia “will not give up” what it considers its own land—a clear reference to Ukraine’s illegally occupied territories.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov doubled down on the Kremlin’s hardline stance. Speaking at a press conference on March 6, he flatly rejected any proposal to deploy European peacekeepers to enforce a future ceasefire in Ukraine. “There is no room for compromise on this issue,” Lavrov said, warning that Moscow would interpret any deployment of European forces as NATO sending troops to Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova backed him up, dismissing the possibility of a ceasefire agreement or the presence of European troops in Ukraine. Speaking on March 6, she stated that Russia considers any proposal that would allow Ukraine to “catch its breath” along the front line unacceptable.

Kremlin Rejects Peace Talks and Ceasefire Proposals

So Russia is "easier to deal with" despite Russia refusing peace talks, ceasefire and offering any concessions. Meanwhile Trump has tried to force Ukraine to accept a dozen concessions and Russia none. According to Trump as well, in regards to Russia bombing and slaughtering civilians because America pulled back support: "anyone would do it"

President Trump has made it clear in private conversations that he wants Ukraine to change its stance on peace negotiations, including a willingness to make concessions to Russia. He also wants some movement towards elections in Ukraine.

So what we have so far is.

Ukraine Concessions

  • Complete Surrender to Russia
  • Give America Billions in Minerals
  • Surrender 20% of Ukraine to Russia
  • Stop Being Mean to Russia in UN
  • Not Allowed in NATO
  • America Won't Protect Them
  • Zelenskyy's Removal

Russian Concessions

  • None

To help bring "peace" America is weakening one side, that is Ukraine, by...

  • Turning Off Aid Completely
  • Turning Off Intelligence Sharing
  • Cutting Off Satellite Access

"Peace Through Strength" with China, but with Russia, that goes out of the window.
