The people that take this seriously are just bored and don't have anything of substance to discuss. And I believe that not everything a politician says should be taken seriously, especially by someone who turns spectacle into an art form. ÂÂ

Europe seems to be taking it pretty seriously given their response. Plus I'm sure the citizens of these countries don't give a fuck if it's a joke or not when it comes out the mouth of the President of the United States, it should not be said at all, especially during a time where Europe is quite literally being attacked by Russia. All these comments do is sow discord and distrust amongst allies in a fragile time and will push Europe to become more isolationist which would actually be a bad thing for America despite what MAGA idiots think and other American allies to question their relationship with America. Trump will be the biggest contributor to things like BRICS growing and Europe becoming more isolationist then wonder why a bunch of countries hate America. It's really no surprise considering how America has acted under two Trump terms.
Zuckerberg's Facebook has been a massive contributor to disinformation in the past so it's really no surprise, Twitter only had more impact because the only people that use Facebook now are oldies, Lol. Basically all billionaires are the same, unless they've inherited the wealth like Bezos wife, in order to become a billionaire in the first place you almost always have to be cold hearted and a bit of an asshole, almost all of them take advantage of their consumers and abuse their workforce or knowingly contract out to abusive workplaces. It's zero surprise to see billionaires kneeling down to kiss the ring of King Trump, they're the same at the end of the day.
Techbro billionaires especially are going to contribute massively to a decline in humanity, via misinformation and AI slop. They don't care though, as long as they make more money and no amount of money will ever satisfy a billionaire, $10bn? $100bn? It's not enough, they will always want more, they always seek more, they don't even fucking use it, they just want to hoard their wealth and while us common plebs fight amongst ourselves and blame each other for our problems, the billionaires sit and laugh at us.
Like Henry Ford working with the Nazis, capitalism doesn't care about things like fascism as long as they continue to make money, human suffering isn't important. Most of them would be happy to work with Hitler 2.0 if it made them money still. Probably most of them would still be doing business in Russia if they weren't being pressured by governments to pull out and if Russia was an actually important country to them businesswise you can guarantee they'd be throwing their prams out the pram to continue to do business there.

And has either Canada or Greenland done anything with respect to preparing for an invasion? Have they rung the alarm and called the troops out from the reserves? If not, then they aren't taking this seriously. I agree with everything else though, regarding the responsibility of such statements and so forth but that is a separate issue in of itself. I can see politicians and other public figures complaining but that's just rhetoric and complaints. Â

I do not believe America is about to throw missiles and troops into Canada, Greenland, etc. But physical force is not the only way that you can "attack" someone, as Russia has perfectly demonstrated across multiple European countries, it can be political sabotage like Muskrat is attempting to do, it can be bribes, it can be economic attacks, etc.
Germany and France Warn Trump Against Use of Force Over Greenland
In a hastily called televised statement, Germany’s chancellor, Olaf Scholz, said Trump’s remarks had triggered “incomprehension” among European leaders. “The principle of the inviolability of borders applies to every country – regardless of whether it is east of us or to the west – and every state must respect that, regardless of whether it is a small country or a very powerful state.”
Earlier, the French foreign minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, said that Europe would stand up in defence of international law. “There is no question of the EU letting other nations in the world, whoever they may be, attack its sovereign borders.” Barrot added on France Inter radio, that, while he did not believe the US “would invade” Greenland, “we have entered an era that is seeing the return of the law of the strongest”.
Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the experienced Danish foreign minister, said it was in everyone’s interests to lower the temperature in the discussions.

Poland is telling Musk to fuck off after Musk's attempts to interfere in UK's democracy.
Norway isn't happy about Musk either.
Musk is actively trying to interfere in the UK.

Adding it all up, it makes for a lot of nervous allies, it can't be said "Musk is not officially part of government" because nobody cares about that when Musk is seemingly involved in all Trump's shit and already successfully making demands of America's government, so when you combine Trump's threats and Musk's very real election interference it goes beyond just a shitty joke for America's allies, a joke that shouldn't have been made in the first place regardless of whether someone believes America will use military action or not (I don't). Europe will have to take this stuff seriously because Trump's admin already is trying to interfere in their "allies" democracy and politics.
