Oh my god. I'm so it's the equivalent to the Sun or the Mirror here in Ireland/UK. No wonder people are calling me out, it sounded so professional and I swear I had heard this newspaper held in high regards before.

Well dammit. Misinformation is a part of life on the Internet now that we are in the AI age and it's only going to get worse before it gets so bad governments will have to step in. Might aswell use this ad training to combat the wave that's about to come over the next few years.

That said, story still seems legit regardless if the paper is not.

Governments are full in on it, adding to the misinformation. One of the biggest examples is running for president again, Trump...

I don't believe it. Any Governemnt now that wants to remain in power and have a chance on the global stage would be steering away from that and following China's example of propaganda and an eclosed information ecosystem, not adding to the confusion. I seen Obamas team try to float the idea of an information watchdog, something that would be akin to the ministry of truth and while it seems radical they had damn good intention behind it for times like we find ourselves in.

Just to add another example I saw today.

Maybe it was the New York Times you heard of?

Yep. I mistook The New York Post for the New York Times and the Washington Post, I'd have to assume.

WMD in Iraq ring a bell? Government fake / misinformation is far older than the internet.

Netanyahu, Putin, Kim Jung Un, Khamenei are all using misinformation to stay in power today. (Although they indeed don't have much chance on the global stage anymore)

US political election is rife with misinformation as well. Both Democrats and Republicans. Hence fact checking is so important nowadays. A good advancement with AI would be real time fact checking. Add a truth meter on the screen during debates. Lie, unverifiable, Truth.

I like how you called out both Democrats and Republicans. I've seen people say what you've said a lot online while they, in the most horrifically unironic way, support everything from either of the current shit picks whether it's Trump, Biden, Hillary or Kamalla. So you have Trump/Kamala supporters saying there is corruption in every governemnt all over the world but not Trump or Kamalla, they are different, they are the good ones. Sorry, to go on a tangent. I don't have much else to add, I agree with what you said. I suppose I should add "any country/nation that actually cares about their country/nations future should be creating an enclosed ecosystem". Sadly, I guess very few of them do. China cares more about the party clearly and secondly the people, I guess it's the same in the west but we have a harder time seeing it at such a close distance.

Harris to meet handpicked Muslim supporters in Michigan

US Vice President and Democratic party candidate Kamala Harris will hold a private meeting with Muslim advocates in Flint, Michigan, north of Detroit, later today, multiple local sources have told Al Jazeera.

The meeting will be attended by members of Emgage, a Muslim-American political group that has faced criticism for endorsing Harris despite her pledge to continue to arm Israel as the US ally bombs Lebanon, Gaza, the occupied West Bank and Yemen.

President Joe Biden and Harris have seen their support in Arab and Muslim American communities plummet over their unwavering support for Israel despite well-documented abuses by the Israeli military in Gaza and across the region.

Some community advocates have slammed the White House’s approach of holding off-the-record meetings with unknown Arab and Muslim attendees without changing its “ironclad” backing of Israel.

Hussein Dabaja, a Lebanese-American political consultant in the Detroit area, decried the lack of transparency around such meetings.

He said the Harris campaign is “afraid” to have an open dialogue with representatives of the community, so it is reverting to behind-closed-doors meetings to appear like it is listening to Arab and Muslim Americans.

“It’s a meeting just to check off the headline. There’s no actual substance behind it,” Dabaja told Al Jazeera. “It’s unfortunate that the people meeting with them believe after one year of our people getting massacred that these fake meetings are still going to do it.”

Socialist ≠ communist.
And not just backing away from him. They teamed up to take him out of the primar in 2020.
But he likely views the DNC as the lesser of two evils, and by quite a margin considering what he thinks of Donald Trump.

The DNC didn't want Sanders in 2020 b/c his rhetoric doesn't sit well with donors. They read the room, and realized that a Sanders nomination would be risky. He never posed a legitimate threat to the establishment. Just another talking head. (Note: This is just my speculation; i.e. I don't have sources confirming nor denying these claims.)

In any case, my comment on Sanders being a "communist" was intended as satire of libs and anyone to the right who pin the fallacious label of "communist" on Sanders/anybody who disagrees with them. Obviously he's not a communist, nor is he even a socialist. He's literally just center left.
