It perhaps makes sense for people who just starting their retro journey, but for people like me it sounds more or less like "hey, have purchased original software and then re-purchased it on Wii and again on 3DS ... and again on WiiU? How about a subscription service for all of those games you already own?

The same applies for the other sub services as well.

If you dont have such a huge backlog and prefer games on borrowed time (moreso than the typical physical/digital purchase) like Gamepass, PS+ games, etc - then I guess its a good deal.
