Solid year I think. Elden Ring was my GotY, and I consider it one of the better games I've ever played. Any year that sees such a monumental release is automatically a pretty good year imo. Those kinds of experiences don't come around all that often. That aside, there were several other really good games released. Not a lot that I would consider absolute must plays, but a lot of really enjoyable B-tier type games, that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Runner Up: Plague Tale: Requiem
Honorable Mentions: Vampire Survivors, Nobody Saves the World, Pentiment

No new games interested me this year. But definitely an AMAZING year because of steamdeck! I’m able to play Metroid Dread and Breath of the Wild, as well as the og xbox title Ninja Gaiden Black. This is a wonderful year for fans of emulators.

It's only really a bad year for Xbox fans lol. Overall it's been a great year for gaming.

You don't speak for everyone LOL

Elden Ring best game of the year (multiplats don't count though). Played my fave game of all time Persona 5 Royal on the best service in gaming gamepass, and played one of the funniest games of all time, High on Life.

I can never really rate it until a few months after they year. I usually stop buying games around September so I have something to put on my Christmas list every year. Horizon Forbidden West, Stray and Kirby Forgotten Land were all great games. I'll probably be getting God of War R, Live a Live, and Crisis Core Final Fantasy for Christmas in which case I can rate those after playing them. Elden Ring doesn't do anything for me, and I will probably pick up TMNT SR at some point.

I mean, if you count Persona 5 Royal as a contribution to a good gaming year, a game that's been out for a few years, then no year would ever really be a bad year.

I thought it was a kind of weak year overall. Started strong, but the middle was very weak. Ended kind of OK

Pretty good for me. I dont play a lot of new stuff per year but what I did was good

Personal GOTY was The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe which is like double the content so id argue it counts and is goddamn spectacular

Otherwise I rly liked Pokemon Violet, despite the issues a rly damn good pokemon game

Amazing year for me whether we count new releases or my backlog. I will save the writing for a big thread though.

Eh, this simply was not my year. Even the games I thought I'd like weren't that great. (i.e. DQ Treasures, Kirby & The Forgotten Land, Elden Ring, etc.) It was decent though.

It has to be Xenoblade 3 or Live A Live as my GOTY. I can't choose but they were my highlights of the year.
