This guy has some weird vendetta against Idas.

1.) I'm pretty sure Idas' comment was before the EC hearing.

2.) Idas was asked about his personal expectation.

3.) The 20-25% was based on the deal going through, not based on EU clearance.

Yes, I've seen it on the ResetEra thread, this isn't the first time that he has gone after Idas, it's really weird and a bit sad.

I'm not sure when Idas said it but your #3 is correct, Idas was talking about the deal going through overall, not on the EU's chances of approving the deal, Idas like every other investor/antitrust specialist, etc. Is GUESSING based on their best judgement of the available information and I've seen many put the chances lower than Idas (from lawyers to investment branches).

Idas has been brilliant at presenting the information in an easily digestible manner.

You know, it looks like this dude is just salty that Idas is getting all the attention as the source of information and not him.

I'm sure Florian knows a lot of stuff too, I wouldn't try to discredit him like he's obsessed with discrediting Idas.

February 18th:

>Sorry if I missed it but what likelihood are you giving the deal closing at this point? (In its current form)

20-25% chance. If they are willing to accept divestures, it's more likely to happen. Bu as far as we know, that's a big IF.

Which is funny because I've seen others give lower estimates, Lol.

I think it's fair when you consider the facts, CMA being extremely against behavioural remedies is a mountain to climb.

This is weird too, almost like he's complaining that Idas is assessing the case based on the law? No shit? Regulators SHOULDN'T be involving politics in this. Microsoft were as caught off guard as everyone else and didn't seem to consider the politics of it, I don't see FOSS claiming that Microsoft therefore don't know shit, Lol.

Idas assessing the merger based on the law? That's what he should be doing? Lol.

Meanwhile Idas ain't said shit about him, not even negatively when he responded to his tweets the first time, but this dude is obsessed with disrespecting Idas and straight up twisting what Idas said (which he provides for free), like I said, I think the dude is just salty he isn't receiving the attention which is a shame because he does know stuff and I have used him as a source in the past too.

EU is likely to approve with the behavioural remedies that Microsoft has offered. Their approval was expected though, it still ultimately comes down to the CMA. However, will CMA now be swayed by EU's decision? CMA's President did an interview recently stating that they will take into account what other regulators decide.

Also, one reason (among a few others) as to why they don't like Behavioural Remedies is that it requires long and difficult monitoring on their part, if EU takes that responsibility (as any remedies undertaken would be applied worldwide), will it push UK to accept them? Since someone else will be monitoring them.

Nice, so basically the only obstacle left is the CMA. The CMA did leave the door open to accept behavioral remedies so the deal still has a pulse.
