While I am glad that the long rumored Fallout 3 remaster from the old 2021 Bethesda roadmap that came out of the ABK acquisition court docs was confirmed, as well as a Fallout NV remaster we haven't heard about before, it's a shame they didn't confirm that a Morrowind remaster was in development at the same studio that did the Oblivion remaster. That game is just begging for a remaster in the same style. The closest thing we have is that Nvidia generative AI thing that was supposed to be able to remaster Morrowind, but 3 years on and no modder has actually used it to remaster Morrowind.

The issue with Morrowind is how dated the controls/gameplay/UI are. It really needs a complete overhaul to be modernized. While Oblivion needed much less work.

Maybe it just me but it all sounds very boring and unexciting. Remix left and right doing the same thing that seems to be getting stale with the current audience. Something tells me that excitement is going to fall off a cliff but then I am pessimistic lately only because I see way to much safe and unexciting work and nothing that makes me want to spend any money. Since remasters isn't something I ever care and I cannot remember ever buying one just feels like wasted time.

You're right. That's just you.

I’d prefer Bethesda actually not work anymore on Starfield. I’m playing the Terran Armada DLC and the incursion mechanic, go to a system, spend 20 minutes in cruise mode to get to said incursion is the most brain dead gameplay mechanic Bethesda has ever created.. I put it on autopilot and leave the room it’s so boring.

edit: also since the last update this is most broken piece of content I’ve ever experienced.

Ride The Chariot | ‘26 Completed

Makes sense:

A brand new Halo multiplayer game has been scrapped, according to sources.

A popular Halo YouTuber known as Rebs Gaming has reported that a new multiplayer project set in the beloved sci-fi universe was recently cancelled. This report was also backed up by Windows Central's Jez Corden, who stated that the news was "100% true."

The new game was codenamed 'Ekur,' and was being worked on by Certain Affinity, a studio that has done a lot of support work on previous Halo and Call of Duty titles. The game's origins began in a totally different project known as 'Tatanka,' which was a battle royale-esque Halo game.

However, that was scrapped in favor of Ekur, which was described as a "super big team battle idea," pulling from Halo's history of large-scale multiplayer modes. Halo 5's Warzone mode was seen as a source of inspiration, as well, and the team also toyed with an extraction mode. The project would've used the map that was built for Tatanka and was being developed in Unreal Engine, not unlike the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved remake.

It's unclear if the goal was to make a multiplayer Halo game that had a broader appeal after Infinite failed to capture a consistent audience, or if it would've been a premium title. Nevertheless, the project supposedly met its end after development troubles on Campaign Evolved, which pulled staff away from the multiplayer project. Whether this game ever sees the light of day is totally up in the air. It's possible it could be revived, especially as Microsoft is trying to inject some life into its biggest franchises right now. It doesn't seem like this was canned as a result of the recent Xbox reset, so hopefully it can find its way back.

Although Halo Infinite's servers remain active, the game's player base isn't very lively. It seems hard to imagine that Microsoft would want to keep Halo's multiplayer benched for the foreseeable future, especially with a new Xbox console on the horizon. Campaign Evolved is, as the title implies, a single-player game with the option of co-op. But for those craving a competitive PVP multiplayer experience, they'll have to wait a while.

That is likely for the best, a battle royale game turned giant big team battle game probably wouldn't have been a success. Traditionally big team battle playlists in Halo had less players than Arena playlists, and the bigger they went, the worse they did relative to arena, the 12v12 in Halo 5 and Infinite both underperformed compared to earlier 8v8 BTB modes in the Bungie games. Sounds like this game was aiming for even bigger, just how big hard to say, Battlefield already proved that 64v64 doesn't really work, which is why DICE returned to 32v32. Even if it was 32v32 I just don't think it would have worked for Halo, the more players you have in Halo, the less the systems that made Halo different from other shooters, like shields, matter, as a shield does nothing if you get hit by multiple players BR headshot at once, no chance to even sprint for cover. I actually liked 8v8 BTB in Halo 2-4, but just moving to 12v12 starting with 5 hurt it alot imo. The BTB maps got bigger for 12v12 which hurt travel time and therefore the amount of time each match that you were actually in combat instead of just running across a map being bored.

Only time will tell, we will see after what  3 to 5 years for one of these remakes to hit.

https://www.windowscentral.com/hardware/virtual-reality/microsoft-and-meta-are-teaming-up-to-offer-xbox-game-pass-with-the-quest-vr-horizon-subscription-xbox-vr-controller-improvements-coming-too

There's not many active Meta Quest users out there these days, but the Facebook firm isn't going quietly into the night it seems.

The so-called "Metaverse" might've amounted to a gigantic dud, but Zuckerberg's VR outlet isn't giving up, and it's leveraging Xbox to help it out.

Microsoft and Meta partnered on the Xbox edition Meta Quest last year, offering a special Xbox-branded style headset that came with Xbox Cloud Gaming in the box, and a special pre-connected controller. Meta and Microsoft are taking the partnership a bit further today, announced via Xbox Wire.

"For years, XBOX and Meta have teamed up to make it easier to play the games you love across more devices.

Today, we’re building on that with a new benefit connected to the Meta Horizon+ subscription, giving you another way to discover and play with Game Pass, alongside the existing access to XBOX and Game Pass on Meta Quest devices."

Looks like the Lead Producer on EA's College Football and Madden games just joined Turn 10 as a Senior Producer. Surprising turn of events, as I figured T10 had resorted to support-studio status.
