"Today, the mood is different. Xbox is looking to reallocate where it spends money. The company wants to invest in its big franchises, and to do that, it needs to cut from elsewhere. Studios such as Compulsion, Ninja Theory, Double Fine, Obsidian, Undead Labs and others are deep in negotiation with Microsoft to avoid closure"

Shouldn't take much negotiating, all Obsidian has to do is say "we'd like to work on Fallout". Asha said she wants to speed up to the release schedule of their biggest franchises, Fallout is their 3rd biggest franchise I believe after Elder Scrolls (Over 60m lifetime sales for Skyrim) and CoD (500m sales across 20 games as of 2023, for an average of 25m per game, and over 30m per game on their biggest sub series), and as things stand Fallout 5 can't exit the pre-production phase at Bethesda until Elder Scrolls 6 releases in probably 2028 or 2029, and can't have the full team on it until TES 6 expansions finish like 2 years later. Obsidian is the only studio they have outside of Bethesda who is familiar enough with the Fallout series to take over development alongside a supervisory team at Bethesda that includes Todd Howard.
If they try and fight to keep Avowed 2 in development, which was recently leaked to be in development, they are hurting themselves. Asha is not interested in a series like Avowed the underperformed in sales and gamepass players.
