Xbox won't even exist in 10 years. Be rebranded as Microsoft Copilot Games or a similar name. No more layoffs as all of MS will be run by AI bots and Nutella will be a brain in a jar.

Yeah and I'm sure Nintendo and Sony, the companies from the country which already started to replace humans by robots in restaurants and other places way before any other country, won't use a lot of AI in 10 years!

My post wasn't serious but when are we getting Rosie the maid from The Jetsons?

Even if your post wasn't, many seem to believe exactly that. They believe Sony and Nintendo will avoid AI much more while Japanese companies prove since years that replacing humans by robots is even considered cool. People in Japan seem to have much less of a problem to see a robot in a hotel lobby, a robot in a diner or wherever else.

Just because Nintendo nor Sony can throw billions in own AI technology simply doesn't mean they avoid it more. They will just use the tech of other companies as soon as it will make sense.

Gamers just fool themselve if they believe something else. People in Europe often joke about how Japan lives already in the future with their different mindset and use of technology and that doesn't come from nowhere.

Why would Japanese gaming companies be any different.

Interesting enough a new Japanese Ramen shop opened up down the street from me and they have robot servers. You punch in your order at the table and the robot bring the food to your table. It was quick and we were in and out within 30 mins. The future is coming and its coming fast, I can see a lot of these robots and service places moving towards this soon.

You're forgetting one crucial detail; Nintendo does things its own way:

https://www.gamesradar.com/platforms/nintendo/nintendo-says-it-doesnt-need-generative-ai-to-make-games-because-it-has-decades-of-know-how-and-doesnt-want-any-issues-with-intellectual-property-rights/

https://www.ign.com/articles/shigeru-miyamoto-on-ai-nintendo-would-rather-go-in-a-different-direction

https://nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-employee-retention-rate/

I suggest you read each one of these. While I believe Nintendo will be using AI in some way or another in 10 years, it's foolish to think we will be having Jetsons at Nintendo just because Japan is headed that way.

So I’m not plugging in the Xbox to check this but how bad is the age verification check on Xbox? (In the UK) if you decline are you pretty much banned from Xbox live, so no digital purchases etc? How strict is this? I will never upload any of my documents to prove my age to some third party company.

edit: so looks like it just blocks social features which is fine by me.

They consider voice chat a social feature? I just assumed they meant social media nonsense or whatever apps I never bother checking. And they already plan to implement this in other countries.

They already make people pay a ridiculous amount for online services, now they're putting fundamental parts of it behind an age verification method which requires private information no one should be sharing.

Its this all because of the law that was passed in the EU.  I believe we will be seeing something of the same thing with Sony as they will need to comply as well.  Not sure if this effect Nintendo because they already do not allow this on their console I believe.

Also from what I read is that it uses age simulation which I would believe is the date of the account.  If you like myself have had an account since the first Xbox, well there is no need for all that other stuff.  Should be interesting how this will be done with other games and services like Steam.

The fact that local goverments inact these policies and corporations are already prepared to not only implement them, but already plan to spread it to other countries is the problem in the first place. It's an incredibly dangerous precedent.

We shouldn't have to be worrying about details of what kind of restrictions may or may not apply to us. They shouldn't have the right to impose their bullshit over us. We allow this now, it only opens the door for them to get more greedy and abusive.

That 3rth party age verification company is not running on fumes. It costs money. So it will either increase gaming cost or they sell your data. Probably both.

Isn't that illegal to do in the UK.  Not really all that up to date on EU laws and so forth but I thought you have to get the user permission for that.
