I couldn't care less about what Ybarra thinks. But I watched the Laura Fryer video, because I think it is always worth to listen to Fryer, even when you disagree. Because she makes her point with a lot of background knowledge and consideration, that at least is worth a second look.

And obviously she is sad with a direction she interprets as giving up the own hardware slowly bit by bit. And yeah, that probably is sad, even though there probably will be another Xbox, but MS doesn't care anymore. Play Anywhere is a great thing, but it means also they are mostly a third-party publisher and offering Gamepass (which is great value).

Funny enough though, she shits on Windows throughout the video. She mentions that the Xbox team melted down Windows in their attempts to make a better Xbox, she claims it an advantage of Steamdeck that it is Windows-free (which I tend to agree), she says she left Winodws behind and installed Linux the moment she left and she even mentioned Pewdiepie's Linux adventures. Although after seeing Pewdiepie building his own bits of hardware even with 3D-printed case and programming it - he isn't a normie, he is a hidden engineer that for too long was stuck with Windows. I think it is funny to see her rant on Windows.

She recognizes that Xbox has a confusing course, changing their direction all the time. Especially in the case praising HiFi-Rush only to close Tango. I think she has a point. I am not sure that Xbox hardware is dead, but I kinda agree it is pointless at this moment. I mean, I probably would still get it as Gamepass machine, but I kinda wish Gamepass would be supported on Switch 2, so I don't have to.

Laura spoke all the truths people want to ignore or spin into a positive that doesn't exist.

Laura is from the “we are going to crush the competition” time of Xbox. I remember her being in the behind the scenes “road to E3” documentary of Gears of War being in the thick of the traditional console wars. Seeing that kind of competing thrown out the window will hurt someone of her caliber.

And at that time until recently, the Windows team was incredibly arrogant and never let the Xbox team do anything, so there may also be a personal vendetta that she has against Windows, so the thought of merging of Xbox and Windows could be a repulsive thought lol

Lol @ shitting over peoples preference or excitement for something as "spin that doesn't exist", I'm not surprised though, some of you have a real bad time with formulating any criticism without going to an extreme and I say this as someone who has been ripping Microsoft apart for their upcoming layoffs, Lol. What's crazy is that Laura has been consistent with this messaging for a while now. One of her first YouTube videos was "Why Xbox Lost" and in the video, she continues to go back to the early Xbox days under Ed Fries as well as Peter Moore's leadership when Xbox started with a small group of scrappy people to there only being a handful of execs you had to speak to, but all of that changed when Peter Moore left.

That's the era of Xbox that she continues to hold on to, and fairly so. She was there when the good times were rolling. But even she can't comprehend how big Xbox is now, and accept the path they're aiming for.

Why this latest video of hers is what's caught wind online since her messaging has been the same throughout her channels brief history, who knows lol.

Like yes, we all would love it if Xbox continued with the success and competitiveness they had during the 360 era, but the second the Xbone was shown off, that cemented that Xbox could not continue competing in the console market the way they had been. Something clearly had to change.

We know for a fact Xbox would be dead if it continued like it was too, Satya ain't been shy at hiding that, the dude has no issue in cutting down entire business units and is very cutthroat, the only reason Xbox is alive is because Phil sold Satya on the idea of Subscription Services and xCloud - xCloud means Xbox would have been everywhere and they would have absolutely put xCloud on PlayStation if they could, I think multiplatform was always the end goal but they originally wanted to do it via xCloud, Activision-Blizzard accelerated things and xCloud didn't take off as much as hoped so they moved to a native approach after seeing how much money it brings in.

According to public knowledge Satya came close to shutting down Xbox entirely at least once, the dude on the stand straight up said he dislikes exclusives and if it were up to him, Xbox would be fully multiplatform everywhere, well as the CEO of Microsoft it is up to him, Lol. It's clear Satya hates the idea of exclusives, I have absolutely zero doubt that if Xbox was still doing full exclusives and focused on desperately trying to claw back console market share in a futile battle with Sony, Satya would have 100% shut down Xbox and been done with it long ago so he can redirect that money on Cloud and AI. The dude is brutal and doesn't care about brand image, only making money, and 3rd party makes them far more money.

If Xbox was doing what Laura wants it to do, it would be dead.
