Is that good though? Hifi Rush had 2m in a little over a month. 1m players in one month when so many millions have free access to it doesn't sound like positive news to me.

Always interesting to me how different I play Open world games like Oblivion to others. Many have finished it already after like 30 hours or whatever.
I'm 16 hours into it, my only achievement is leaving the imperial sewers, I didn't join any guild or anything yet lol
Real shame to hear about Compulsion not using AI, we need more AI (especially for art) and significantly less human input. AI art is just better in every sense, can’t wait to see it start being used properly in games.

I think over 1m in a little over a month is good for an IP like South of Midnight which would have been fairly niche and it's also tackling a very specific setting and audience with its heavy Deep South America themes that hasn't really been done much. In addition to being an AA title and Compulsion Games being a less than ~100 employee studio, SoM core team was less than 100 throughout all of development (that was less than Tango too). It has also released in a pretty damn busy month.
I'm looking at it closer to something like Atomfall which likely had a bigger budget, is a Canadian vs British team, it likely had a similar (if not bigger), core team size and Atomfall would have had wider appeal, Atomfall has done over 2m players (so not that far off) and Rebellion seem absolutely thrilled with that and are banging on about it being their most successful launch ever, Lol.
I think 1m is a strong start which will grow over time, I think something like 3-4m LT would be a brilliant result for Compulsion and justify a sequel. Things don't need to immediately grab all their potential playerbase either straight after launch, I miss the days when we would talk about things like "Legs" and if a game didn't explode straight on launch it wasn't deemed an immediate failure, Lol. At least Remedy is old school thinking like that.
I remember it took The Outer Worlds about 3 years to reach 3m sold (across Xbox/PC/PS) and I do remember people were saying that was disappointing (which I didn't agree with) and it turned out that The Outer Worlds 2 was greenlit literally immediately after The Outer Worlds 1 launched. Nearly 5 years later it did 5m. It now has built up a decent fanbase for a sequel.
Also, I don't like the whole Game Pass has 30m+ subscribers so every game should be doing massive numbers, there are dozens of day one titles on Game Pass every year which don't show huge numbers, it will never be the case with a subscription service that just because it's free to tens of millions, they're all going to try the same product. People have their own interests or they will simply be busy with other titles, a fairly niche title won't suddenly become mainstream because it's available to 30m and must still have expectations adjusted within what the game is and what it is trying to achieve.
Finally, The CEO of Compulsion was the one who dropped this number casually in an interview because he was excited about it, I think he may not have even received official permission to do so, Lol. It doesn't look like an "official" announcement in the sense that Microsoft announced it. But the CEO of Compulsion Games is happy with the number so I'm not going to say he's wrong and trust him.

Honestly, there is just something about it man, I don't get this feeling with other RPGs. Everyone seems to have a different playstyle, I like to roleplay a little in my Oblivion RPGs, I'm taking in all the world, I'm running multiple characters, I see some people doing no fast travel and walking everywhere, sleeping in the inns when it gets dark, Lmao.
I'm about 70+ hours in and I haven't done the Thieves Guild, Main Quest, Daedric Shrines, Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine yet. I'm running two characters at the same time, a Hero Breton and an Villain Wood Elf, the Breton is Sword/Magic and the Wood Elf is Bow. The Elder Scrolls RPGs are the only RPGs I bother having multiple characters on, Lol. I'm even coming up with entire backstories for my Breton
OBLIVION IS AMAZING.

Just pre-ordered Wuchang and bought Clair 33 for £37.50 each. I think I’m doing this GP thing wrong ☺️😅

I was actually going to post about this with a suspicious GIF, Lmao. I'll do it anyway!
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney Wants Consoles to Allow Competing Stores, But Has No Plans to Sue

Given his recent court battles I feel very suspicious about these comments, Lmao. I don't for a second think he would sue Microsoft/Sony but Timmy is laying the seeds and getting the conversations started...I don't think it will be the last time we hear about this. It started with Apple with a few comments then rapidly escalated but again, there's no chance he sues Microsoft/Sony.
Microsoft and Epic have been extremely chummy during the Epic vs Apple court case with Microsoft consistently defending Epic, they weren't involved legally but they've basically been a supportive tag-team in throwing digs at Apple. I actually do believe that Tim probably knows that Microsoft will open up other storefronts on their next Xbox console and I do believe EGS would be one of the first available. I think Microsoft wants this anyway, so Tim is like "Ohh wouldn't multiple storefronts be great!" and Xbox is like "Here are multiple storefronts!" and then they both will start giving dagger eyes to PlayStation and use it to beat Apple over the head with some more, Lmao.
Microsoft and Epic are pretty damn aligned on legal matters and certain industry aspects.
You know what's funny about all of this though? Xbox still doesn't support Epic Game Store at all, Lmao. Microsoft is like "YEAH! GO EPIC! FUCK EM UP!" cheering on Epic to beat up Apple and like "YEAH! EPIC IS RIGHT! THE INDUSTRY SHOULD BE MORE LIKE THIS!" but I just find it hilarious in all this, Microsoft still clearly has zero intention in supporting Epic Game Store, Lol.
Last edited by Ryuu96 - on 03 May 2025Curious why a game which isn't receiving any expansions (already confirmed pre-launch) is receiving a roadmap
It was a great game but I feel like it was a one and done experience with very little bugs or performance issues, I would rather them move onto Avowed 2...That is unless they've changed their mind and they will be making expansions.

Damn, good thing I jumped into that Series X deal two years ago when Amazon was selling them for $350...I should have bought two so I could have traded one of them at GameStop for $460 credit lol
