So what are your plans for the rest of the year?

Providing they don't turn out shit, here is my likely purchase/play list.

  • Star Wars Outlaws
  • Age of Mythology: Retold
  • Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
  • Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster
  • Starfield: Shattered Space
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard
  • Assassin's Creed Shadows
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

May even play Black Ops 6 and Flight Simulator 2024 if I have the time, Lol.

I'm still not done with SMT V Vengeance and probably won't have that much time for new games either. There is only one game releasing this year I'll get day one - Metaphor Re:Fantazio. Also interested in Astro Bot and Visions of Mana but that depends on how much free time I'll have. Wouldn't rule out picking up Black Ops 6 as well at some point, but probably not day one.

My singleplayer schedule for the rest of the year right now is looking like:

  • Finishing Dragon Age Inquisition playthrough to prepare for Veilguard
  • Starfield base game finish and Shattered Space (only if my gamebreaking bug has been fixed in the year since release, which I don't think it has, though if there is a fan mod patch which fixes it i might be able to download it, get past this progression blocking quest, and then remove the patch so that I can continue earning achievements, not sure what I will play after DAI yet if I can't get Starfield working)
  • Resident Evil 2 remake playthrough in mid-late October for Halloween
  • Dragon Age Veilguard
  • Subbing to Ubisoft+ for a month or two to play AC Mirage, AC Shadows, and Star Wars Outlaws)
  • Indiana Jones

Mine is:
Black myth wukong
Pathfinder kingmaker
GTA 4
Space marine 2
Starfield shattered space
Indiana Jones
Black ops 6 (if it's good)

Oh and also metaphor refantazio

It makes me chuckle that Shika could have finished Starfield 20x over if he just started a new save in the time it has taken for him to wait for this bug to be fixed.

That is Bethesda for you, even the least buggy game they have ever released still has a significant, gamebreaking bug that hasn't been patched after nearly a year

I could have replayed 30 or 40 hours of the game to get around the bug, but like 20 hours of that was pain in the ass level grinding, so I just didn't see the point when I have so many other games to play.

A gamebreaking bug that prevents one of the space station maps from loading, a space station I need to load for a quest so that I can continue the main story. It's triggered by taking a stolen ship to that space station to sell pirated goods from that ships cargo hold to the black market dealer there as I recall. It also wipes out some NPC's from the landing pad map of the main city in the game, including a shop keeper there. Bethesda support website has said for nearly a year that they are aware of the bug and that it will be fixed in an upcoming update, but nothing so far.

His thoughts:

The Good

  • Magic and Ranged combat are great, alot more fun than the combat in The Outer Worlds
  • The art design is great and the graphics have improved alot from earlier trailers, he was particularly impressed by the lighting and the color grading
  • Lots of unique weapons
  • Great level design, lots of alternate routes which kind of reminded him of Arkane games like Dishonored
  • Some combat encounters can be skipped by players with certain abilities
  • Tons of different endings, over 50 ending slides total for different questlines, characters, etc.
  • More content dense maps than The Outer Worlds, while maintaining a similar scale
  • A glossary of information for those who didn't play the Pillars of Eternity games or who need a refresher course on Pillars lore
  • 100 full time devs on Avowed (about 30 more than The Outer Worlds I believe), plus a large QA team not included among the 100

The Bad

  • Audio was lackluster, hits don't feel very powerful due to the meh audio which is quite the opoosite of Indiana Jones which he said had very visceral audio that makes Indy's punches feel powerful (this may be remedied before launch as Obsidian told him in the interview that sound is one of the last things Obsidian fixes before a game launches)
  • Melee combat doesn't feel good, like an even floatier version of Skyrim melee combat
  • Some janky animations
  • Possibility the game is locked to 30 fps on Series X, which he feels is unacceptable since the graphics are nowhere near on par with Hellblade 2 (which was locked to 30 fps on Series X). He believes 30 fps will only make the issues with the melee combat that he experienced at 60 fps on the demo PC even worse.

What always makes me laugh about the 30fps debate is everyone’s is pretty hyped for a game (that they’re seeing being played in 30fps) and enjoy what they’re watching ….until someone tells you it’s 30fps then it’s “unplayable” 🤣

Well watching something at 30fps and playing it at 30fps is a very different thing.

For me whether I will enjoy a game at 30fps is case-by-case. Some games feel fine at 30 others are deeply unpleasant.
