About a week after liking the tweet promoting Jez's Xbox handheld article, Phil Spencer has now also liked a tweet by Tom Warren about Xbox needing to make a proper, stripped down Windows OS for the PC handhelds, because the full Windows OS is rough on handhelds. Certainly is looking more and more like the next gen Xbox hybrid handheld leaks are accurate.

Podcast format is interesting, it wasn't expected but it makes a lot of sense, if anyone doesn't watch Xbox Podcast it's basically pre-recorded for release every Thursday and it's in video format too, not only audio. It's good that all 3 of them are there and not just throwing Sarah under the bus as the original rumours stated, Lol. Phil/Sarah/Matt know each other well so it could end up being a fairly chill atmosphere.

Gives them time to waffle on in detail about their decisions too. It's also covering all 3 basis, Phil (business strategy change), Sarah (Game Pass + Hardware?) and Matt (Games). I'm not predicting anything but honestly a podcast format feels very...low-key/tame, for what is "apparently" industry shattering announcements ()

If this is just Sea of Thieves (6 year old GAAS port) and a bunch of smaller titles like Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded, etc, then, Lol.

FYI Nate says he has heard that HFR for Switch was scrapped, Lmao. Not for PS5 though. Switch 2 only maybe?

I have been trying to stay away from this discussion because I don't have a horse on this race. I mean, I don't even have an Xbox so, far be it for me to tell Xbox owners how they should feel, but if I had had one, I would be extremely annoyed with this situation, and I'm really surprised to see you all so chill about it. Seems to me like you all have not stopped to think of what this all implies:

SoT releasing on Playstation means that there is a group of Rare devs out there that, instead of working on Everwild, have been busy working on a project for playstation.

Pentiment and Grounded releasing on Playstation means that there is a group of Obsidian devs out there that, instead of working on Avowed or Outer World 2, have been busy working on a project for playstation.

Hi-Fi Rush releasing on PS means that Tango devs have been busy working on a project for PS instead of working on a project for Xbox, therefore, Xbox gamers will now have to wait longer to play the next Tango Project.

To summarize, every person working on a project for Playstation is a person that could be working on a project for Xbox. And if you tell me "they probably hired someone else to do it", then I would have to say, "then they could have hired that someone else to remake Lost Odissey for Xbox Series".

I mean, they haven't even delivered on their "1 AAA every quarter" promise and now we find out that the reason they are not delivering on that promise is because they have been busy working on projects for other consoles? Like, what in the actual hell?

Anyways, rant is over. Maybe it was better to wait for the actual announcement to do this, but I just needed to take this off my chest. Thank you all for listening.

The thing is, you really do not know who is doing a port but more importantly, why would you care.  Why as a consumer would I care what gets ported to another system, all I care about as a gamer is the game.  That is like me getting upset that MS port to the PC all their first party games when those teams could be spending that time concentrating on just the Xbox.  You are assuming that the people who are doing the port would be the same people developing the game but that is not always the case.

If you owned a PS5 would you have the same mindset if the same studio that did GOD of War also spending their time creating a port of the game for the PC.  The only thing as a Xbox owner I care about is getting good games from MS.  I really do not care if a game here or there gets ported to multiple systems because in my mind, I like for good games to have access to as many people as possible so that another game gets done with a bigger budget and allow the teams to expand on what they do.

So no, I did not buy an Xbox for the games that get ported to the PC or even for the few that are probably going to get ported to Nintendo and Sony system.  I bought the console because its where I do most of my gaming and the majority of my apps I use to view content not to mention GP.  As long as MS can pump out games I enjoy, I probably will get the next system.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

1 Would you prefer Rare delays Everwild with 3 months or more so they can make a port of SoT for other platforms or do you prefer to not delay Everwild.

2 Would you prefer MS gave People can Fly 30 million $ to port games like Gears to other platforms or would you prefer MS gave that money to make a game for Xbox?

I hear the argument ' money' but we saw that argument before; 'if games come on PC day one they will make more money and we as gamers will get bigger better games'   =>  Result  Halo Infinite wasn't really flooding with content and felt like one of the weakest entries;  Forza motorsport wasn't that impressive either, and Gears got an extra game but it was an PC time exclusive so how did xbox gamers profit from it?

MS gaming revenue growth =/= Benefits for Xbox gamers.

Phil and others are continuously making mistakes and in 10 years we will get 'We lost the digital generation with Xbox one and we lost the xbox series generation because we started to port games to other platforms.  It really started the sharp decline in the console sales, has hurt the Xbox handheld sales and made us dependant on other platforms to make a profit'.

What makes it worse is that some will keep protecting Phil's horrible takes    'I am tired of going to Japan to open my wallet to get some games on our platform' and now are the same ones who agree with Phil the ones who are complaining that we miss out on SE games/Team Ninja games because an other Ceo from an other platfrum is like 'Lets open the wallet because investing in getting those games for our platform will be good for the sales of the platform and will make our customers happy'

You guys, the same teams which work on ports aren't necessarily the same teams which work on original development, it's an entirely different skillset, ports can be used as an entry into the industry in order to allow developers to get to grips with certain technologies before moving onto original development, that being said, there's even studios who entire purpose is to simply be porting studios, hundreds of employees who entire purpose is to port, Lol.

Everwild isn't being delayed because Sea of Thieves is being ported to PlayStation, c'mon now, Lol. Not to mention how little difference there is between PS5/XSX now, the difference there is irrelevant, it should only really be Switch that you have concerns over but even then, it'll likely be outsourced and just cause those employees are working on a port, doesn't mean they'd be suitable for joining original development.

Why don't Microsoft just hire the entire industry to work on their games? It'll get em out years earlier, right? Lol. Not that simple.

On top of that, they simply might not need them right now, games aren't made by simply chucking an infinite amount of bodies at the game, the required manpower increases/decreases throughout the course of development, different responsibilities are needed at different times, Everwild may simply not need dozens of regular skillset employees tossed onto it all of a sudden and doing so may instead hurt development.

The idea that games just need to have more bodies tossed at them no matter what stage of development they're in is an incorrect mindset to have. It's the same thinking of "hey if this studio just hired hundreds of employees all of a sudden, that'd speed up development, right?" Wrong! Lol.

This concern is quite frankly, way down there at the bottom of actual reasonable concerns, Lol.

Thats why I wrote 1 and 2.

From your own team/studios or someone else does it....At best it just cost some money at worst it cost time.

I just used Everwild because of one of the ports could be SoT. Could have used other games like Avowed but that one would be just silly to be delayed because of a Pentiment port.

Anyway but it cost time and ports aren't that easy .  Best example this generation.   BG3, released in September for PS5 and it took till december before it released on Xbox series....

I'd rather the hybrid console be cheaper personally. Not sure why MS would shoot for high specs when the regular Xbox console is already doing that.
