I hope Indy is 3rd person. ID tech would be cool!

Hell yeah!

Indiana Jones is exciting, I wasn't expecting to see it so soon.

The new Indiana Jones by ZeniMax Media will be released in 2024, sources close to the game tell Insider Gaming.

Looked on the Zenimax Jobs site for Machine and between the 3 job listings I looked at, none mentioned Unreal Engine experience as a requirement or bonus, while idTech experience was listed as a bonus. So I'm assuming they are either using idTech 7 or were given early access to the upcoming idTech 8 as id themselves use it on their next game.

God, ID's next game on ID Tech 8...

Only one game used ID Tech 7 and that was Eternal.

They have been that way for awhile. Doom 3 was their only id Tech 4 game, Rage was their only id Tech 5 game, and Doom 2016 was their only id Tech 6 game. All of the other games on each of those 3 iterations of the id Tech engine were from 2nd/3rd party developers, for instance Machine used id Tech 5 on Wolfenstein The New Order and Wolfenstein The Old Blood, Arkane and Tango adapted id Tech 5 into their Void and Quake Engines respectively, while Machine used id Tech 6 on Wolfenstein 2, Youngblood, and Cyberpilot. The only difference with id Tech 7 is that so far no 2nd/3rd party studio has used it for a game unlike previous id Tech iterations, Indiana Jones from Machine could potentially be the first and/or only 2nd/3rd party game to use id Tech 7 before id releases their first id Tech 8 game.

Quite different from Bethesda who did 3 games on Creation Engine 1.0 before upgrading to Creation Engine 2.0 for Starfield.

Joking

Seriously though if you care about your profile, achievements and library then why not PC? Most Xbox 1st party is Play Anywhere.

If I remember right, the steam versions of the games requires you to use your Microsoft/xbox account - so if you have achievements from the Xbox versions, they will automatically unlock on Steam.

Is it weird that I just do not care about this stuff? Like, as long as I keep getting great GamePass content, MS can put games wherever for all I care

Definitely not weird, I'm close to the same mind as you, Game Pass has honestly been one of the best things I've had in gaming, Lol.

As I grow older, I care less about the console itself and I just want to play great games. Sure, if Xbox stopped making consoles I'd feel a little sad due to memories but I still had all those great memories and then I'll simply make a quick move to PC still with my Xbox profile, Lol. I do think it would be "dangerous" for Sony to have that much power on the market though.

At this point, I'm only with Xbox due to convenience and because I'm scared of Windows Store issues I'm also a bit wary about the whole PC building, upgrading, all those settings and stuff, Lol. So I'll keep buying Xbox consoles as long as Microsoft keeps making them. But ultimately I'm a happy fella as long as my gaming belly is being fed and Microsoft keeps making games, keeps pumping content into Game Pass.

I'm incredibly excited by a lot of their upcoming games, doesn't change anything to me where they release and I fucking love Game Pass.

This has always been my mindset. I have all 3 consoles but the console that gets the most time has always been the Xbox.  I purchase a Xbox not because of how many exclusives it has but currently the eco system is my primary place for games.  Its funny because we have been down this road before.  When MS announced that they are putting all their first party games on PC, we got the same doom and gloom comments.  So now we have rumors that MS may put HiFi Rush on Switch and SOT on both PS and Switch and suddenly we are doom and gloom again for games which mind you probably should be on those platforms.  It doesn't make sense for a service game to stay exclusive to one platform, MS should always put service games on as many platforms as they can.  As for HiFi rush, the switch is definitely the place for a game like that and it probably going to sell just as well as Ori did.

I actually would find it silly for Sony to limit any of their service games to just the PS.  Its a waste of resources when those service depend on as many users as possible.  Why is Fortnite as big as it is, because you can play it on everything.  Now all service games will be as big as fortnite but every service game needs to be on as many platforms as possible for growth and support.

Dunno why anyone is upset at Switch getting Hi-Fi Rush anyway when we're getting Pokemon.

Palworld launches in Early Access on January 19 for Xbox Series, Game Pass, Xbox One, and PC - Gematsu

I have a friend who's really excited about this.

Imagine if GameFreak wasnt so cheap (or Nintendo - or is it The Pokemon Company) wasnt so stingy with budget.

Instead we're getting a clone who looks better and will have better performance but probably be worse, gameplay wise lol.
