Even more hints!

#40 - This game combines the design genius of a beloved Japanese studio and the writing talents of an American novelist, although the latter's contributions are hard to spot.

#39 - This is a bright, colorful, family-friendly platformer, but it's main gimmick is a little dark, when you think about it.

#38 - This handheld title is one of the few remakes that's allowed in this event.

#37 - The sequel to this cult favorite is probably vaporware at this point, but it just got a new lead writer, so who knows?

#36 - This home console sequel to a handheld title was recently repackaged with brand new DLC, which borrows the freedom of movement from #39.

40: Elden Ring

39: Kirby comes to mind, but not sure which one then.

37: Beyond Good & Evil?

#40 and #37 correct!

#40: Uh, very easy, Elden Ring

#37: Beyond Good&Evil?

You got them!

36) Must be Super Mario 3D World

Well done!

I'm too late for some 40, 39 and 36 it seems, but I take a stab at 38; Metroid Zero Mission.

Nice job!

Do you guys know a good site where I could copy-paste my list and then re-order it quickly (like with a drag and drop interface). I want to shift things around a bit but it's annoying to do it in my Excel spreadsheet.

#40 - Elden Ring (guessed by Darashiva / Mnementh)

#39 - Super Mario Odyssey (guessed by UnderwaterFunktown)

#38 - Metroid: Zero Mission (guessed by S.Peelman)

#37 - Beyond Good & Evil (guessed by Darashiva / Mnementh)

#36 - Super Mario 3D World (guessed by UnderwaterFunktown)

You guys are good!

So I got off my lazy ass and did my reordering in Excel after all. Which means I have a list now and I can hint!

#50: This installation of a long running RPG series represents a big step forward in production values and features a main character who is surprisingly agile for someone who shouldn't see a thing.
#49: The grandson of the father of fighting games.
#48: The Internet went crazy for one of this game's major bosses. Had the developer anticipated that fact, she might not have been the first one to die.
#47: What reboot? Never heard of a reboot? This game ignores a controversial reboot and follows the previous numbered title, this time allowing you to play three different characters.
#46: Take what's good of the original, add a dash of Hollow Knight, a pinch of breathtakingly beautiful environments and you get a sequel that eclipses the original completely.

48 - Resident Evil: Village

46 - Ori and the Will of the Wisps

49: On right track... but not quite there.

48 and 46 are correct!

Well guess we'll some more hints for these ones:

40) Perhaps one of the most famous cases of a "bug" becoming a feature
Hint 2: And a vital part of competetive play

39) This highly acclaimed title was caught in some controversy this year
Hint 2: I belive the arguments were "It's unwarranted", "It's too expensive" or "Take my money!"

38) As below, so above
Hint 2: For the first time in this series the protagonist isn't silent

37) The revival of revivals
Hint 2: Since this remake that started a trend came very long after the previous remake for the series

36) Most characters from the original game return in this sequel, though you only meet a few of them before the post game
Hint 2: One of these characters, the one you interact with the most of the returning ones, is the "final boss", though he didn't have that role in the first one

#40: Super Smash Bros. Melee (Wave-dashing)

Correct!

Guessed by @UnderwaterFunktown

I was probably going to drop this game from my list, but then I thought about it for five seconds and remembered it was good. It's had many updates since, but I've no idea how much they've fixed or improved from the original release, though there seems to be a redemption arc going on right now with a bunch of people giving it a second chance because of an anime based on it that is apparently good and got people hyped about it again? Anyway, I don't really know about that. My time with Cyberpunk 2077 was the time when it released, and I liked it a lot. I never even saw the "good" ending, but it didn't matter much because the bad ending I got was pretty awesome. I mean, horrible, but awesome in a horrible way. I suppose I should go back to it sometime, though.
