Forums - Sales - Mario & Sonic at Olympics (Wii) has done it!!!

@disolute:

You have it the wrong way around.
You shouldn't blame people for buying (a fun game btw) like M&S @ the Olympics. Games like these have always sold (maybe not in these ridiculous amounts, but still...), just look at PS2's gameslist. I did a quick search and found "The Incredibles" sold a staggering 2.3 million. Did that stop developers from making great games on PS2?

You could blame Sony and Microsoft, for pushing the limits so much that devs have to invest ridiculous amounts of money to actually make a PS360 game. You named MGS4. You think Konami will never make an epic game again? Sure they will, but at least they'll make sure that they'll work more efficiently.

You could also blame costumers for not buying great games, but that happens.

I could blame anyone and everyone but I dont think that will bring Shenmue back :)

Joking aside, when I think about it I don't think I have a point here...I can hardly finish the games I want on the 360 most of which are good  high budget blockbuster games. So until this is the case...I don't think I need to complain about low budget, casual games taking over.

I laughted when I first read their projections. Now they laugh in my face and they have the money too...

It would be great if the balance board were supported. I mean, many Winter Sports involve boarding of some sort.

I'd also like to see how they implement the "curling" event.

To compare it to the curling event in Winter Sports The Ultimate Challenge on Wii?

I wont be surprised if life time sales are +10.

it was marketed verry well, i saw lots of ads in the uk which were pretty pursuasive. Its a shame i hated this game :(

yeah, I never thought it would be this big of a hit. *claps for Sega*

M&S's lifetime sale will be 8-11 million. I see no reason this game cannot double. Also, it would be the ULTIMATE System seller if they launch the Wii in China before the Olympics.

The entire nation of China is incredinbly hyped up about the 2008 Olympics.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I think M&S will be the best selling third party game on Wii.

If Sega released a Winter Olympic version, would M&S's sales still double?
