I'll be rooting against Argentina and Morocco.

A final between Croatia and France will have the latter win their third WC title.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

Wait did the rules of football change? I thought if one of your players got a red as in 2 yellows, they wouldn't be allowed to play next game or be subbed out. Please correct me if I am wrong.

This is how the rules always were. When a player is sent off, the team must play a man down until the end of the game, but while the sent off player remains suspended for the next match, he can then be replaced by someone else. No game of football starts out 11v10.

Then again, Acuña wasn't even sent off, just suspended for accumulation of yellow cards. Argentina will be without him for the semi-final, but will still field 11 players.

Ok cool thanks

Hell no you all are whack. Morocco should bear France it would be some small form of revenge against the French colonialism. And it would be cool to have a team outside south America and Europe in the final. And France just sucks. I don't know the players but the country sucks and is super racist against my people and of course they were the 2nd biggest colonizers after the UK and their anti Muslim bigotry is also there. Morocco vs Croatia would be cool. We would have new world cup winners. And a repeat of the 2018 final is boring. Francs is like the 4th team I want in the final as in I don't want them there at all. The only thing I have against Argentina is they are previous champions and the only thing I have against Croatia is they are a European team. I wish Japan was here but I have to make due with what we have.

Those aren't normal people, those are addicts. People addicted to anything can have problems, the same is true for alcohol, tobacco etc. too, not just gambling.

You're right, But yeah oddly I'm not addicted to gambling even my uncle brings me to his job at paloma casino I play blackjack but I get angry when another player joins but my uncle was a card dealer he knows how to make players lose and casino house take addicts money making them live on their cars and not their homes anymore.

Gambling is very exploitative and scary. I feel sorry for the addicts.

I want Argentina to win, but it would also be cool to have a first time winner like Morocco or Croatia.

Still rooting against Morocco until its army stops occupying Western Sahara.

Bear in mind, a lot of the people here are Europeans.

I'm Argentine, so my allegiance is equally obvious. I agree with you on all your reasons for hating France, that said there is also a lot of unlikeable stuff about Croatia, like, nazis and all, you know, the usual stuff. What I like about them is Modric, their normal kit (the new one is horrible), and that they've never won it so it'd be interesting from that point of view - especially coming off the back of getting 2nd place in a World Cup no one gave them a chance, and were again written off by most this year. Then again, their football is ass. Morocco would be a super cool and unexpected winner, they also don't play pretty but who cares.

So personally, my ideal final is... Argentina v France. Because between Morocco and France, I'd be equally scared of them. I'd rather lose to Morocco, but I'd rather beat France, because if Messi's first and only World Cup win is against Morocco, everyone will always think of it as an "easy WC" regardless of all the top teams Morocco would've knocked out on the way there.

I do roll eyes when I see that the colonialism argument brought to sport, especially with the double-standards like the one you highlighted. (Maybe that’s how other see the OneLove and Taking the Knee campaigns though).

Plus Morocco got its independence in the 1950, likely before the parents of their current squad were born. Plus 14 of them were born outside of Morocco. I’m going to hazard a bet ‘sticking it to the colonisers’ is not something at the forefront of their minds. I actually saw a comment during the tournament from an American with this mindset which was frankly bizarre, not only due to the time elapsed since American independence but also that the guy’s family likely migrated to the US well after the event. Also the oddity of holding being European against Croatia given themselves would be classed as a colonised country rather than a coloniser.

From their profile, Eagle367 is from Pakistan. I’m from the UK. Whilst the UK never plays Pakistan at football, they do come into competition often enough in cricket. I’d assume it is for him, but is ‘sticking it to the colonisers’ a bit thing in the rest of the country when Pakistan and England play each other in cricket? I’ve never seen such a vibe, including from other countries that of former colonies of Britain. The one I saw with more political tension was Pakistan v India.

England tend to see it more in matches against Scotland and Wales, who like to stick it to England. I have a Welsh work colleague you was very much supporting France in the quarter-final, despite living and working in England himself.

I think it’s unfair to judge an entire country on what happened in the past, that stuff being 80 years ago - at least 3 generations before those in the Croatia squad. Even the more recent Yugoslav wars which saw atrocities committed by all sides, these players were children then. Many ended up as refugees in the conflict. Other players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Xherdan Shakiri, Granit Xhaka et are of Yugoslav origin and ended up abroad and for other countries as a result of that conflict.

Also Argentina is often talked about being a country where many Nazi survivors went in exile to so…

(I’m sure I’m going to regret going down the political rabbit hole here)

Yeah, I saw WWII era stories of Croatia and didn't want to hold it against them. But then I saw some pretty recent stuff, even things some current national team players said that were pretty awful.

Anyway. Football.
