 Why? Not all console companies fail at producing enough to meet demands. People know that they can go buy the game, and pick up a console if they want to.

 You will see the boost on that week, and then bringing PS360 to a new height for months to come (150K, 140k, 130k, 127k...)

Heck, makes me glad I don't have to 'pre-stock' my fridge or worry about not being find food next time. :) 

I think 2:1 seems right considering the user base if were talking NA. Its not a failure on Sony's part, but just the fact that EVERYONE will be getting this game. 1st week I think its 3 million, but it will be sold out on both platforms. WW this game will hit 6 million within the first few weeks IMO.

This is the first game that really matters to the mainstream. Its huge, it actually deserves all this hype (cough Halo cough). And its attractive to every mainstream gamer that has ever picked up a game.

This shit is going to be bigger than anyone is predicting right now. I think the Wii is about to lose a bit of market share in the coming months. (Not to one particular console, but it will be barely outselling both consoles (not combined lol) so market share will slowly start slipping for a few months.

I also don't think the Wii will ever be as dominant ever again outside of Japan.

GTA IV will sell more on XBOX 360 than on PS3 in NA but it will sell more on PS3 than XBOX 360 in Europe.

So, first week NA XBOX 360 (2 million), PS3 (1 million). First week Europe XBOX 360 (1 million), PS3 (1.5 million).

If the GTA series was popular in Japan then game sales on both platforms would be close to one another like with Devil May Cry 4 but I doubt the Japanese like it.

Pachter believes GTA will sell 9 mil in the first week.

I'd say it may sell for 4 mil in 1 week...this is GTA you know...

I have played through and completed Assassins Creed and from my memory do not remember it being a FPS.

Sales roughly 2.4 : 1 in the favour of the 360.

Based on Assassins Creed being a new franchise and DMC4 being a Core Sony franchise (more so than GTA imo) I see GTA4 selling around 2:1 sales in America.

I am not sure when it is released in America but in the UK it is out on a Tuesday which is a bit unusual. I think 3 million is a great estimate 2 million on the 360 vs 1 million on the PS3. 

No reason it cannot sell another 2 million in Europe as well to take total sales for the first week up to 5million.

North America region only = 2.5 million GTA 4 for XBox 360. 1.5 million GTA 4 for PS3.
Rest of the world= 1.25 million GTA 4 for XBox 360 1.5 million GTA 4 for PS3

Total GTA 4 sales for first week = 6.75 million. 4 million sold in NA only.

First week GTA 4 Breakdown: XBox 360 = 3.75 million. PS3 = 3 million

The hardware boost may have already been happening in the past few weeks for all we know.

3 million on the 360 alone, 1-1.5 million on PS3.

Halo 3's record opening will long be forgotten.

it wont sell 3 million on xbox the first week, i dont think it sold that much on the ps2 so quickly.
