Forums - Sony Discussion - God of War: Ragnarok launching November 9th!

Nice to hear. Hope it's true. Yet I won't believe it until it's Nov 10th and the game is out.

This timing is so not Sony. If this launch date is kept, it says to me they've got a line up of first party all ready to go for next year and beyond.

Hopefully Day One for me, if I can actually get a PS5 lol.

I hope Kratos isn't killed off, but if Santa Monica were to take that direction narratively, at least his death wouldn't be "permanent," and they could always bring him back.

I can't wait. 2016 version was my first plat🤣. Hope it's slighty more challenging as the 2016 one was a bit too easy

Well he died like twice in the original trilogy and just escaped Hades.

For gameplay I prefer the original trilogy myself, but as a game as a whole I like GoW2018 more (did you finish it? because the gameplay change sensibly in the later half).

I beat the main story, but not all Valkyries. I had the fire one (and then the 'queen') left.
I liked the combat against bosses, but not regular enemies. Haven't played the original games, but from the looks of it, I may have preferred that combat system as well since it looks more like DMC.

Gotcha, yes I also prefer the gameplay of the original trilogy, hack and slash versus the new one that is more on souls like system. After you get your chains of olympus the combat get a little more hack and slash against mobs.

I bought a copy of the 2018 God of War game. I haven't even opened it yet, and I don't exactly know how it plays, but having recently finished Sekiro, I've gotta say that I much prefer the Souls like style of gameplay. It's slower for sure, but to me it is way more immersive, it really puts you in to the game.
I've finished all the previous GoW games btw.

If you like the Souls like battle more than hack and slash and finished all other GoW it is quite probable that you are going to enjoy GoW2018 and likely Ragnarok.

I found the gameplay to be souls-adjacent. Very heavy, very weighty, very visceral. Honestly, if you like souls-style combat this is the best GOW to get into. I promise. It's not the same, but it's similar enough to be worth a recommendation.

Buy pre-order PS4 version and ir can be about 45-50 USD.
