Nevertheless, that is what they can do. It is was initially designed to be the successor to the DVD and is actually the approved computer format, so if they wanted to do so, I guess they could. I just checked Wiki, and actually my guess was right, HD-DVD will be the format for Vista.

As of windows vista being crap, I've heard alot on this, however I havent seen anything to support it.

You could check out the link below, dated 2006, which is about HD-DVD porn.

http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/07/14/first-hd-dvd-porn-goes-on-sale-in-japan-safe-for-work/

Porn will be published on Blue-ray it is just that  they don't receive the support as they do when they publish it on HD-DVD.

I didn't realise japan already had some titles released, but in the states they are racing for the first hi def title release.

Plus MS didn't even put support for either HDDVD or Blu-ray in the box with vista, you might want to recheck. Also the 32 bit version of Vista will NEVER support HD. So how could they put Vista on a format they don't fully support? I'm just asking here, not really trying to start anything....BTW, why are we talking about this in this thread anyways? Oh well I love talking about all the techie stuff. I can get more articles on this, just search "vista hd dvd" and you'll hear it all.

Vista will not support Blu-ray or HD DVD playback out-of-the-box or on most PCs

For all the noise Microsoft made about Vista supporting HD DVD you'd think we'd be able to play those studio-released, HD DVD titles right out of the box right? Not so childrens, at least not in Australia according to c|net. See, Mark O'Shea, a Microsoft OEM systems engineer (not exactly an executive level position, mind you) sez that version 11 of the Windows Media Player shipping with Vista will not support playback for commercial Blu-ray or HD DVD films. By this, we assume he means that WMP11 won't include the ability to decrypt AACS encoded titles. For that you'll have to use third party software like PowerDVD from Cyberlink or Intervideo's WinDVD BD, neither of which is currently available for retail but may (or may not) ship with your BD or HD DVD drive. Then it'll all work, right? Maybe, but if your media rig is pumping video over DVI or HDMI then you'd better be sure your graphics card, driver, and display all support HDCP (not just HDCP ready) if you expect to decrypt that High Definition digital signal. All assuming your CPU or GPU has the muscle to decode the HD compression codecs to begin with. Heads' spinning yet? Sure, so go ahead, lie down for a bit, we'll understand why you put off your next-gen optical PC drive purchase while the DRM gets a bit, say, more consumer friendly.

Update: Oh my. Microsoft just announced that they won't support high definition playback on 32-bit versions of Vista, at all! In other words, unless you've recently upgraded to a Core 2 Duo or similar 64-bit processor, you won't be using that new Blu-ray or HD DVD drive to playback studio films when you upgrade to Vista. If that's your gig then you'd best get saving for a whole new rig, son, cause your old digs won't cut it.

Gee, and here I though High Definition wasn't that big a deal, I guess I was wrong though and its obviously the most important aspect of anything ever since oxygen was introduced to our atmosphere. Damn anything that isn't HD!!! Can it even be called technology if it isn't HD? Why don't they just put an abacus in the box instead of Windows Vista.

Here's an article that I consider to be logically sound on the MGS4 discussion:

http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/BuckF1tches/oh-konami-tell-me-those-three-words-i-long-to-hear--31955.phtml

To summarize: no, Konami still hasn't openly said that MGS4 will be coming to the 360. Yes, it's quite likely it will do so, at some point, but almost certainly not as a simultaneous launch with the PS3 version.

Can we all agree this is logical and just let it die until Konami says differently?

MS should just buy Konami and get this franchise only on the 360 and proceed to ruin it after...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

wow still going. If it ever make sit to 360, the official word wont come untill after its released on PS3. Which pretty much will make it meaningless.

If Sony didnt actually pay for exclusivity, then there is no viable reason why they wouldnt port it. Not a big surprise really. Will it hurt PS3 sales? you bet your knickers it will. Both 360 and PS3 consoles are expensive. 360 owners who might have gotten a PS3 for it, will no longer do so and those who want just this game will now have choice of consoles which will divide those sales a bit as well.

It all depends on when the announcement it made but from their perspective, it really doesnt matter when the announce it since they will sell the same amount regardless of what console the sales are made in.
