Forums - Gaming - RROD, the issue that will get you jumped on.

There are good games for PS3 currently, but thats the problem, they are only good. Does Uncharted, R&C, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword set any new standards. No.

On the other hand, Halo 3, no matter how much you want to blast the single player, it has set the standard for multiplayer gaming and will influence how online gaming is handled in the future.

Gears of War, cover system, graphics, it was the start of current gen gaming, heck, even Uncharted took concepts from Gears and many more games will in the future.

BioShock, revolutionised interactive environment and story telling. This is creativity at its finest, and future games have alot to be inspired by this.

Mass Effect, scale, story telling, choice, alien side boob, future sci fi games need to learn from this game if they even can match it. If Star Wars KOTOR 3 was made in this fashion, it will be huge.

Trust me I am also eagerly waiting for THE PS3 game, and its looking ever ever more likely that this wont come until FF13. GT5P, MGS4 and K2 can set new technical and graphical standards, but I would take new standards in gameplay, scale and story telling any day.

I know the PC argument has been used to death already, so Ill just say that not everyone can afford a high-end PC and these games usually come out way later, heck it took half a year to confirm Gears and Mass Effect on PC. Plus, Live, achievements, and the Xbox controller is so the better way to play these games IMO.

@Bmaker: stop trying to convince Rocketpig of the fact that the Wii and PS3 have good games which he can play on a console that actually functions. Guys like him are the sole reason that MS still haven't fixed the RROD issue because they keep buying the product blindly regardless of quality or functionality.

What an ignorant comment. Just one post before you, I said the Wii had a few great games and several good ones, which is why I bought it. Again.

BTW, owned a PS3 since August of last year... Still waiting for an exclusive that's more than "decent". Why is it so hard for Sony to come out with a great game when the console is 18 months old and why is it so hard for PS3 fanboys to admit that the console has yet to provide any amazing exclusives?

Because the PS3 already has some great exclusives. They may not answer your personal taste, but they appeal to millions anyway. Gamerankings and metacritic are so flawed in their scores they can be used as an objective source for gaming reviews.

If you own a PS3 without any games that you like, then I am not the one you should be referring to as ignorant.

Which ones? I'm dying to know. Are they exclusive? Uncharted was decent, as was Heavenly Sword. That's all I'm coming up with for exclusive games that made me say "wow" at least once.

18 months into the console's life, I'm still waiting for a GREAT game... Still waiting...

Ok, I can play your game:

I'm still waiting for a GREAT game on the 360. Halo 3 was ok at best. Bought it with my roommate a week after launch, and between the two of us, have only put in about 4-5 hours of online. WAY more time has been put into COD4. But, in HAZE-detractor terms, overall it's "bland" and "too generic" just like Halo 2.  Gears was ok, if you really think the cover system is SO revolutionary. But none of these games seemed that "great" to me, nor did they "wow" me.

The difference between me and you is that despite these being my opinions, I don't spout them as fact, and tell everyone who enjoys these games that the 360 has no games. It's just how people find much, MUCH enjoyment out of Wii Sports, yet it only got an aggregate review of about 75. Different strokes for different folks, man. Keep that philosophy in mind the next time you say that "PS3 doesn't have any games"

Has the rrod problem which is still huge even with the falcon chip become impossible to discuss with all the people here trying to distort the discussion?

Perhaps you could point us to some data supporting this statement?  When you make statements like that, don your flame shield...

If youre going to quote someone and even have the audacity to put quotation marks, can you please quote something that someone actually said!?!? No one said anything about PS3 having no games.

Uh. Okay. I listed two games in the post you quoted. Obviously, the PS3 has games.

What are these "great" exclusives? I would love to play them.

My list thus far:

Heavenly Sword: Fantastic voice acting, too short, GoW ripoff.
Folkmore: Meh. Just meh. Absolutely nothing spectacular about this game.
Uncharted: Very good game, stole elements from several other titles, overall pretty fun.
Ratchet & Clank: Good platformer, bad shooter. Too bad Insomniac didn't try harder to minimize the shooting elements.
Warhawk: Decent but that's all. Battlefield ripoff but overall execution isn't bad.
Lair: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH!!
RFoM: Pretty bland. Very mediocre, especially when put up against games like Gears, CoD4, or BioShock.
GT5p: Sorry, won't give Sony $40 for that game. Absolutely refuse to play it. Eagerly anticipating GT5, though.

What am I missing?

"PS3 doesn't have any games" "PS3 AIN'T GOT NO GAMES!" "There are no games on the PS3 worth playing" etc. are just general quotes that were either implicitly said throughout all of 2007, or are simply implied by those today who don't want to come to grips with the fact that good games DO exist on the platform. I use them to call people out on said implications, and debunk it with the fact that there are several great exclusive and multiplatfrom games on the PS3. It's just that people (mostly Xbox fans) want to hold on to the 2007 mentality, but not look like they're biased, so instead of saying "IT AINT GOT NO GAMES!", they'll change "NO" to "great", but most can see through it easily. And then when games like MGS4 come out, that "no" that changed to "great" will then change to "more excellent/more higher reviewed/etc" and it will probably keep going until the next gen comes. It's like when an obvious troll who is flaming a thread will whip out "I have all 3 consoles, so by default, I'm not biased"....You may own all three, but people can see right through you

Back on topic...

Yeah, I've seen two actual cases of the RRoD. Hope it doesn't happen to my roommate
