Forums - Gaming - RROD, the issue that will get you jumped on.

Ok, it's about time this got out the way once and for all. Last night I posted in response to a rrod issue which you could find here: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?start=0&id=24496

In there I complained about the fact that MS had known about RROD since launch and still has not fixed the issue to this very day and I suggested he might get a console that actually works. Then I got jumped relentesly by hordes of 360 fans for nothing while the original poster stayed friendly and answered my question politely.

After some bashing towards me and my posts being reported numerous times by people who'd do anyhting to censor the rrod iisue, SSJ12 stepped in and kindly put a stop to all this. Even Starcraft was pretty nice (yes, hell froze over. LOL) and as far as I was concerned the topic was closed and I made my last comment.

Then another RROD issue popped up and I only read it to see that the same tactics were being used by people to silence the RROD issue again. http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=24516. Has the rrod problem which is still huge even with the falcon chip become impossible to discuss with all the people here trying to distort the discussion? It's pretty insulting that anyone critising RROD or MS is deemed a fanboy of another console/pc.

It's a sensitive issue obviously for MS supporters; to be honest, if youre ever going to mention RRoD, id recommend explicitly stating if youve have it happen to you or not, which I see you have done from the topic, then people cant just brush you off with the whole "you havent had one!" speech.

I personally think 360 owners are just worried it's gonna happen to their new and 'RRoD proof' systems with the falcon chip, so its a defense mechanism.

Obviously the numbers for RRoD have lowered since the new chip, but the problem is still there for all to see clearly, MS havent solved it so people need to stop jumping down someones throat if they point it out.

Gazz, you must understand, and have sympathy for these 360 owners. Obviously they've all had it happen before, and it was a very traumatic time for them, lots of emotions, and 2 weeks possibly having a life. So it's understandable that they'd try to deny that the problem exists, and try to forget those 2 weeks, and sometimes multiple occasions, of emotional heartbreak.

But on a serious note, in my experience 360 "fanboys", dear god I said it, anyways, 360 fanboys tend to be the less intelligent bunch, I'm not saying they are stupid for buying a 360, not at all, but they just don't seem to be the brightest lightbulbs. Their arguments are usually based on opinions, such as "The 360 has better games" and "XBL FTW!", they do not see that in reality the 360 has a larger library, but not necessarily better games, and while XBL may be bigger, and have more content, it costs money. Just two common examples.

Anyways, I better stop before I get jumped on or banned.

^ Trolling? "All XBox 360 owners are less intelligent than other console owners". Come on that is blatant trolling I wonder how the 360 fanboys will react to that statement you just made?

Is there ANY evidence that RRoD still exists in the newer 360s? I guess GTA4 will be a real telling game for testing RRoD issues.

I can't see any issues discussing this - as long as people are sensible about it. Its not like there is a denial that RRoD exists, is there?

It's the same as claiming the Wii will fail because people prefer graphics. It's overused, and almost always as flame bait. So don't bring it up unless you have to real good evidence to back it up.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

It's the new N word to 360 fans. It got abused too much so now we can't say it anymore.

It's a shame that hot button issues such as politics, religion and even video game system reliability can be held with such childishness and contempt. I myself have been guilty of bullheadishness but have grown passed it over the years. Still, people seem to be respecting other peoples' opinions less and there is quite a censorship that is going on, especially in gaming forums. No one can deny the issue of the RROD still exists and will exist, even if the chip is made smaller and cooler. Microsoft have themselves said more than 100 issues can lead to an RROD, the most popular being solder and heating issues. However, if people (professionals, mind you) have modded their 360s with extra fans (externally powered) and even water cooling systems still experience an RROD, then this issue will continue unless there is a major overhaul of what's inside the box. That said, the issue should be brought up and freely discussed, in a mature, unbiased fashion, and self-conscious people need to come to terms with it.

All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be.

I have not had a RROD with my 65nm 360 Elite, nor has anyone I know had a RROD with the newer systems. Known plenty who have had it with older systems though.

Well there was that amusing thread posted by Madskillz.

"How many of you have actually seen an RROD?"

I honestly think the idea behind the thread had been: "If only a few people post that they've seen an RROD it can't be all that common!"

After about the 50th person posted seeing an RROD though I think that notion went down the toilet.
