Notice I said "owners of that console and reasonable discussion about those consoles". People who don't own the console are welcome in the manufacturer forums but trolling is generally dealt with more swiftly and harshly in those forums.
If you think that someone is trolling a manufacturer forum, most of you know which mods own which consoles and just PM them if they're online or report the post. Someone will look it over when they get the chance.

I have. I was talking to the manager at GameStop when I was buying GT5:P. A guy walked in with his receiptfor a new 360 Premium. Said that the console died within the first day.
GameStop tested the console right on the spot, and as clear as day there was the RROD. The customer exchanged it for a 40GB PS3. I explained that it doesnt have backwards compatibility to him. He said he didn't care as he doesnt own any PS1 or PS2 games. I told him he can buy some PS1 titles off the PS Store but really to stick with current gen games and newer PS Store titles and skip the classics unless something other then Spyro and a few others were actually worth $4.99, lol.

So exactly what do you want from us? Allow 360-bashing to go on inside the Microsoft forum? Would the moderator of your choice allow that inside the Nintendo or Sony forums? The posts in question: MS has known about their reliablility for years. They don't care about any of their users, South American or not. Buy a good console next time , you probably knew of the RROD issue before getting it. Next time make a safer bet. And for thread #2: ZenfolderVGI God only knows, spartan004, God only knows. Maybe MS sent you that code over Wi-Fi that makes you send in your 360, so they can send you a new one and count it as a "unit shipped." I suggest selling it and buying a PS3. I know, I know, PS3 sucks right now. Still, it'll get better. 360 will have RRoD forever. And by Capt. Preferences: Also get your 360 fixed, get a PS3, and come play some Haze when it comes out ok? So what, from your standpoint, are we supposed to do, again, in the 360 forum when the first few posters are certainly biased against the 360?. I'd love to hear your insights on that. The 360 owners, on VGC are certainly in the minority, and get jumped every time for every single little thing about the 360 (well, aside from the games). |
breaking down posts here but i dont see major trolling problems here
1. Minor troll in the second sentence but overall M$ cares about money and thats about it. The second sentence could also be made to mean to wait for the full 65nm chipset or or 45nm one.
2. this post feels full of sarcasm for some reason. I have an odd feeling at least 50% of it is.
3. this post tells whoever to get their 360 fixed AND buy a PS3. No trolling here at all.
I have a 360 and as a 360 owner i think it would be quite stupid of me or anyone else who owns a 360 to act as if RRoD isnt a major issue. Sure the newer models have less failures, but that doesnt help anyone who bought a 360 before that. Microsoft isnt replacing the older ones when you send them in so the people that have the older models just have to cross thier fingers that it doesnt happen to them. And its not just RRoD errors, mine was my dvd drive that went out 3 different times. On two different consoles at that. My ex sent hers in for a RRoD error and it came back and the wireless controllers didnt work with it.
But my main thing is microsoft really doesnt seem to give a shit about that. They just tell you to send it in and they will fix it for free, like they are doing a favor by not charging you lol. Then they give you a whole month of xbox live for free!!!! YAY!! To bad you lose almost a month of service anyway by sending it in. Ima just say this though, even if you are a xbox supporter or "fanboy" you shouldnt accept how microsoft handles this as being ok. They made a shoddy console and to avoid having a major recall they issued an extended warranty to somewhat cover thier asses. But when people are having to send back multiple consoles (ex. me), fixing it for free just isnt good enough anymore.
I feel that Gazz's post was pretty clearly bashing the 360 instead of offering useful advice, BUT that the reaction he got was completely out of proportion to the offense.
A reasonable response would be something like "Dammit Gazz the topic is this guy asking for advice and if you can't do that then don't bother posting." Instead [EDIT: upon review, mrstickball's warning was not out of line. But] then about half a dozen others jumped on the bandwagon, saying he was telling people to get a PS3 when he had not said one thing about the system. [edit: Among] these was madskillz going on about how mrstickball wasn't doing enough merely threatening to ban Gazz, and defending the ludicrous PS3 allegations by pointing out the PREDICTION in his SIGNATURE that talked about the 360 losing out across the world, including to the PS3 in Europe.
All in all, Gazz was the first to misbehave in that thread, but he was by no means the worst. IMO.
