Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Game Recommendations

My wife got me a Switch for Christmas.  She also got me Breath of the Wild, Metroid Dread, and Mario Kart 8.  I'm looking to pick up a few other games off of the eshop since it looks like there are quite a few sales going on right now.  Seems like they all end at the end of the year, so I am trying not to miss out on anything.

Games I've spotted so far that I am considering:

Guacamelee! 2 Complete - 75% off
Iconoclasts - 70% off
SteamWorld Dig 2 - 70% off
Shantae (3 different games) - 50% off
Hades - 35% off
Bastion - 80% off
Transistor - 80% off
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Gold Edition - 80% off
Golf Story - 53% off
Mega Man Legacy Collections (all of them) - 50% off
Okami HD - 50% off
Resident Evil - 35% off

Any other standout games I am missing?

My favorites from that list are Transistor and Okami. Okami is a long game, don't get disheartened by the very slow start. It's worth it.

Two main things:

1: What kind of genres or experiences are you looking for in general?

2: Would you consider getting multiplats like Witcher 3 or Doom Eternal or do you have another system you'd rather get those one?

I tried to get into it on the PS2 and Wii versions but couldn't either time.

I don't blame you. I finished it on ps2, tried to get into another play through with Okami HD but couldn't. They should have remastered the opening, as in trim 80% of it. It is very tedious before it gets going :/

My favorites there are Hades and Okami.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Mr Shifty is really good and I’ve seen Untitled Goose Game physical copies cheap in different places lately.
Neo: The World Ends with You is cheap right now digitally and in stores.

Agent A, Party Golf or Party Crashers, Dicey Dungeons, God Eater 3 (has Monster Hunter vibes at a cheaper price), Into The Breach…

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. Unrailed is worth a look at too if that’s your thing.

Just some options for things that are available cheap at the moment. Hopefully you get a chance to have a hunt and find something to tour taste.

Golf Story is one of my favourite experiences on the Switch.
Decent variety as a golf game, full of details and some of the most wonderfully humorous story and dialogue I have come across in a videogame.

Mario + Rabbids is fantastic, Okami is too.

As far as just Switch games in general, ones I can vouch for myself, my top recommendations would be:

- Super Mario Odyssey

- Monster Hunter Rise

- Ori and the Blind Forest

- Ori and the Will of the Wisps

- Splatoon 2

- Xenoblade 2

- Astral Chain

- Doom (2016)

- Doom Eternal

- Hellblade

- The Witcher 3

- Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair

- Crash Bandicoot 4

- Wolfenstein II

- Dusk
