Forums - Website Topics - [RESOLVED]: Forum Issue - Tweet links now working!

Hi all,

I've spent a good amount of time correcting broken posts over the last little while when people have included tweets in their posts. To help save from more headaches around the forums I wanted to put out this short PSA.

Posting the simple link to the tweet will break a thread as the site is breaking when trying to automatically embed the contents of the tweet inline in the post. PLEASE DON'T SIMPLY POST TWEET LINKS IN YOUR POSTS

LUCKILY there is a right way to include tweets inline in your posts.

  1. Go to https://publish.twitter.com
  2. On the site in #1 enter the link to the tweet you would normally paste right into the thread and submit
  3. Click on "Copy Code"
  4. In your post editor, click on the "Source Code" HTML editor button. It looks like "<>"
  5. Paste the copied code into your post where you want it to show up and click "Ok"

Here's an example embed:

We will let you know if/when the tweet embedding the easy way is fixed.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

works perfectly

Certain posts seem to have broken retroactively. I dealt with a report earlier this morning that had a post breaking the thread that was made more than a months ago. And then had to follow a series of 10 other posts (and quotes of posts) in that thread that would break until I fixed each post. Your link also isn't embedding the post itself. I'm thinking maybe the query parameter in the link you've posted might be causing the site from trying to embed the actual contents of the tweet.

Don't envy you fixing all the broken threads, but thank you for doing it. Hopefully @TalonMan or @TruckOSaurus can think of an easy way to fix this.

. for later

Thanks for the warning.

I rarely post any tweets, but I'll keep it in mind.

Please excuse my bad English.

Great to see the effort put in to fix the broken threads.

Saying that, is it really necessary to embed them? Just post a link and people can click them to read them.
