this is coming from a sony fan. there is no way any PS3 title will outsell gears of war 2.

thats not to say that the sony titles will not be better games, its just that gears, resistance, killzone, socom all of them are shooters. shooters sell extremely well in America and the 360 will still have almost twice the install base the PS3 has in america when these titles are released. the three ps3 titles have no chance against gears of war 2. however, to spin this for sony, the sony titles have a better chance of being system sellers for the PS3 than GeoW 2 does for the 360. a lot of shooter fans have already picked up a 360 for Bioshock, Halo 3, Gears of War, COD4, Orange Box etc, however, i don't think that many people will be picking up a 360 of GeoW 2 as they most likely have already picked one up for GeoW 1, Halo 3, Bioshock, etc. However, if they truly are shooter fans, it seems like the PS3 is the console for them this fall/winter meaning that many "360 only" people will be picking up a PS3 for R2, KZ2, and SOCOM: Confrontation.

I expect the ratings on Metacritic to look something like this:

Resistance 2: 96
GeoW2: 94
SOCOM: Confrontation: 89
Killzone 2: 85

I expect Sony to advertise the hell out of Killzone 2. It will have the best graphics seen this gen, however the gameplay will not be there, but that won't matter too much with sales. When the PS3 commercials come out with Killzone 2 footage millions of 13-17 year old boys will cream their pants at how AWESOME the graphics looks and want a PS3 for xmas. Followed by a couple of very nice Resistance 2 commericals, people will be wanting a PS3 right next to their 360 that they've owned for the past 2 years.

 I agree about the delay aspect...someone should have told this to the guys who made Lair...

Gears of War 2 will outsell all of the mentioned games in NA. Maybe

uhhhh....do you not remember how many times lair got delayed???? i think they eventually realized the game was going to be crap no matter what and that they should just realease it before putting more resources into a steaming pile of you know what.

i hope LBP sells well because its really the first game of its kind on the ps3 and i would like more of them,
GeOW2 should sell lots and lots.
resistance 2 Should also sell lots but not as much as GeOW2 but i predict that Resistance 2 will have longer legs and be a bigger system seller than GeOW2. quote me on that.
SOCOM i dont know what to think about that tbh and killzone should sell really well and that with resistance combined should outsell GeOW2

All the top PS3 shooters Resistance 2, Socom:Confrontation and Kill Zone 2 are competing against each other for sales. Gears of War 2 on the 360 is on its own and will indeed sell a lot of copies based on Gears of War having sold 5 million copies.

why do people just mention "in the NA" come on now, look at the world picture

My prediction on this : Sony will probably advertise the crap out of the games youve had mentioned . GoW2 will sell probably more than those , but together they will trump the 360 easily . To Human , Fable 2 and L4D will please the curent crowd , but it will not convert many new owners . On the other hand Sony gets 2 huge FPSs that will boost sales in the US , and by then Sony will lead in Others . Motorstorm at this point will be a hit , like it or not , though I dont think it will push many systems . If LBP and Home really become big , than that would be a pleasent surprise .

Will MS win this Q4 .... not a chance , even in the US the fight will be extremly close IMO , but this is just my take ;)

Which, IMO, favors the 360 even more. The PS3 is very shooter-heavy this Christmas season while the 360 has L4D & GeoW2. The 360 also has Banjo and Fable, which should be at least moderate successes in Europe. The PS3 has LBP, which should get a few people excited about the console but that game is a huge wildcard at this point.

Is there some big Euro-centric or Japanese-centric game that I'm missing for the PS3? I keep looking at that lineup and seeing a bunch of shooters and LBP. That doesn't exactly cater to non-NA gaming tastes.

Motorstorm 2 is a racer, I'm unsure if that game is usually thrown on the list, but it's looking very good.
