The funny part about this post is not only is it not true but even if it was that means the Switch has software that has singlehandedly outsold the PS5 entire library despite all of that support. That's laughably bad!

The funny part is PS5 actually will get better Japanese third party support than Switch lol

Developers are therefore losing money because the PS5 software is doing very poorly. That can't be funny for anyone. Though we know your claim is untrue.

By the way did you miss the post that talked about toxic posts in Japan sales threads that brought them down on other sites like NeoGAF and ResetEra, to the point where they are no longer accessible, because people could not resist the urge to pretend like the Switch was bad or that Japan didn't matter? You may want to take a look at it.

Nonsense.

SE, Capcom, NB, SEGA are making more money than ever and largely due to Playstation (and PC for some titles).

Just because someone, and rightly so, points out that JP software is heavily reliant on Playstation and overseas market does not make it toxic. If you're talking about Japan only, you might have a point, however any post talking about Japanese software decisions made by publishers should bear in mind that the majority of sales for said publishers happen overseas and mostly on Playstation.

A franchise like Momotaru makes sense for what you say but something like Musou does not.

Reagrding Resetera, Media Create has a really bad reputation on that board for being an echochamber and rude. Just ask the other members of the forum. A mod stepped in, and they over reacted to a 1 day ban. Speaks volumes that the mod team don't care and the rest of the forum is ignoring it.

Like, all of your argument stands on the PS4 (important to make this clear) still being around. That's all the current support right now stands on. What is going to happen when the PS4 is dropped in 1 or 2 years? You honestly believe studios want to keep losing money with a system that is doing worse that the WiiU in Japan?

NS - 23

PS4 - 4

PS5 - 3

Is this the first time PS5 has 3 games in the top 30?

Gibson on Twitter says PS5 has sold 500k physical software for approx 1 million hardware. XSX has sold 4k iirc from 90k.

People aren't scalping XSX. I think its clear PS5 has a big digital ratio. Hopefully we get data on it soon.

Why would digital be high when you can buy a second-hand copy of Resident Evil Village for under Y3,000 or Tales of Arise for Y5,000? Village has only gotten a 30% discount digitally compared to being 50% via the second-hand market; Tales of Arise can be bought for 35% less than the price on the digital storefront..

You are just posting wishful thinking especially when we know that Resident Evil Village the best-selling game on the PS5 had around 20% digital at launch thanks to Gibson, and this share has only gone down as second-hand copies became readily available at a fraction of the price.

Tsukihime got a restock! But only a small one sadly.

I assume gamepass isnt a thing in japan?

Worse than Wii U, huh? So is it your prediction that the PS5 is going to do less than 3.3M in Japan?

It's hilarious to see people talk about the Wii U being ahead of the PS5 currently, yet conveniently forget that the Wii U was heavily front loaded and completely collapsed later on, while the PS5 is constantly closing the gap and will most likely sell 2.5x-3x more than the Wii U. It is currently outpacing the PS4.

Japan has been moving away from dedicated home console HW for decades, now. There's really no point in acting like the PS5's performance comes as a big shock and PS is in trouble. Even the mighty Wii sold only 12.77M in Japan. Japanese devs are going to continue to support PS because their games are selling. I mean even if you wish to pretend the digital ratio is lower than everywhere else in the world and Japanese people are just buying PS5s for them as art pieces, those games are selling elsewhere in the world.

This just shows how out of touch you are with the market.

People buy digital for a number of reasons, from convenience, no space, to having a centralised library that can follow you. Digital has been expensive in the UK as well, yet that didn't stop the adoption.

Until we get clear digital data on PS5, its hard to conclude.

That sounds a lot like the PS5 to me.
