Forums - Gaming - epic games wont ever make games for the wii

No need for all the "Epic can go to hell" comments. While I disagree with his comments he's certainly entitled to produce games for whatever system he chooses. You can't force him to produce Wii games. And there'll always be a market for Epic's HD games regardless of whatever marketshare Nintendo ends up with so they'll do fine.

Personally I agree with Will Wright more. Unlike this guy who thinks its' going backwards with the Wii, to me the Wii is what is moving the industry forward. For years now we've been incrementally increasing graphics potential (which is great don't get me wrong) but the Wii now takes it further by trying to change basic gameplay and add immersion through better controls. Granted it doesn't always work as sometimes the controls for certain games suck. But as a WIP i'm excited for the future of gaming due to these new controls.

I betcha naughty dog won't make games for wii either, neither will insomniac, or bungie!

why does epic matter so much

next-generation tech = wii, last-generation tech = xbox360 & PS3, idiot

oh man i lost all respect for epic...your supposed to be an unbiased game developer...but im still gonna buy gears or war 2...

I dont care about epic.

What I care about is business integrity and this guy has shown none. Why does he need to publicly state such things? this is really bad business for him and his company and someone needs to shut him down fast.

Pretty unsurprising. I mean Epic is known for making the visually most opulent best looking games. They really have no place on the Wii.

Well by that logic they have no place on the PS3 or 360 as well and should be sticking to high end PC's.

Where 80% of all the copies are pirated. Unless you happen to be making The Sims, odds are that there's more cash to be had in the console market and surely Epic realizes this.

Great minds think alike, I was just gonna say that. 360/PS3 are a step back in technology compared to PC.

lol, wait until the shareholders have their way. ppll like money, wii prints money see the problem for him?

@soriku

you honestly think their gonna lose money with GEOW 2 coming up??

No. I wasn't talking about GeoW2 though :3 They'll make money off of that. I meant their...other games. They can't make HD game after HD game forever you know.

Sure they can. When your epic and originality and innovation means nothing to you and your stupid fans continually want to buy the same old crap all the fucking time then you can pretty much make the same game every single time with a new name and people will buy it. Must be quite a luxury.

Everything I bolded sounds like a description of Nintendo, to be honest!

But really, don't mind the guy. I know it's easy to get mad, but the Wii is just not his kind of system. He's a PC oriented developer, so he's not looking at the Wii's audience. If he played the Wii and it's great library, he'd probably have a greater appreciation for it, although I doubt he'd start development for any new games for it.

He's right, Epic is all about pushing the next-gen hardware, which they can't do on the Wii. They spend so long creating cutting edge game engines such as Unreal 3 that they will be going back. But that doesn't stop other developers using early builds of the engine to create Wii games.

How can people not understand this?
