The PlayStation 5 sold an estimated 199,634 units to bring its lifetime sales to 7.30 million units. The Xbox Series X|S sold 98,248 units to bring their lifetime sales to 4.53 million units.

"The PlayStation 5 has sold in 7.8 million units as of March 31, 2021, according to Sony."

By April 10th, they would likely have shipped over 8~8.1 million or so by then.
You think theres 700k-800k Playstation 5's sitting on shelves in stores around the world/transit? if its sold through numbers are 7.3m.

Hopefully the arrival of Halo Infinite later this year will cement XS's lead over Xbone, and their enlarged first party studio base will result in less first party droughts than Xbone suffered. A healthy Xbox is good for the industry as competition drives improvement.

Halo Infinite is looking a lot better in recent screenshots with the graphics and technical issues getting fixed. Rumors also point to Forza Horizon 5 and Starfield coming out this year.

Yep, just like the Outer Worlds screenshots of the Switch version, they looked fantastic

So it seems PS5 is undertracked here by a fair bit and is now passed 8m.

Probably.

The website Ampere did a great job when they did their prediction, they said something like 7.8 million at the end of March 2021. Bravo.

"is now"

You mean if we had numbers from and upto April 28th?

Back in March 31st (basically a month ago), it was over 7.8m.
By now, its probably 9m (shipped), and without a doubt over 8m sold through.

Sometime late May - early june, it will probably have shipped over 10m.

That now famous quote by Don Mattrick (from the XB360 era):

“History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle.”   - Don Mattrick

Haha, when I said  "now" I actually meant this weeks update (April 4-10). But you're right, it could be passed 9m right now

Seems like PS5 is selling a lot more than this site would have us believe. Most likely in Europe where it was the top seller in Feb and the UK for 2 months. What’s strange is even the numbers on the front page have been adjusted down in Europe from the numbers posted in this thread. That’s actually the second time Europe PS5 numbers were adjusted down in the last month as well. Hopefully we can get some proper adjustments soon for PS5.

Some adjustments in NA too, seems from the resetera guessing game, the PS5 for March was well north of the 390k.

We have undertracked PS5 slightly (About 100,000-200,000) as the 7.8 million figure from Sony is shipped and not sold to consumers. I'll make the necessary adjustments.

Part of that will be from the US, as we got tighter NPD ranges yesterday.

Extrapolated ranges from ResetEra prediction results (Donny who runs the thread has actuals but cannot disclose them). @trunkswd

937k < Switch < 985k

473k < PS5

234k < XBS < 330k

VGChartz estimates pre-adjustment:

NSW - 879,121

PS5 - 396,095

XBS - 252,046

Hopefully we get concrete leaks one day, but the above is the best we have so far.  Crazy month for PS5 and NSW.

Unless Nintendo's numbers next week lead to adjustments down in ROTW/Europe, the above basically confirms that NSW 2021 Q1 is the largest non-holiday quarter of all time with a minimum of 5,938K (and max of 5,990K), ahead of NSW 2020 Q2 @ 5,932K.
