Launching it at a different price wouldn't have helped much, if at all. It might garner more sales, but launching at a lower price also changes the profit margins, so it might actually make less money that way. At this point, the people who are spending $50-$60 for Balan are probably hardcore YujiNakaists, and that wouldn't change that much if it was a $40 game (maybe at $30 you'll get a couple of meme purchases, but only a few still).

The better solution is to just .... make a better game.

A difference in a lower price can be sufficient for some games. As we've seen over the past couple of years, the eradication of differences in regional pricing has put forward an issue for some folks in various countries where their earnings/currency is not of greater value, and high prices like these and little difference in regional prices means less chances of getting a sale.

Making the game not look and be like shit is of course the better route to go, but at the same time, not pricing everything everywhere for 50-60 is also a good idea.

People are paying £50 for Pirate Warriors 4 on Steam with overwhelmingly positive reviews. Yes the die hard fans are paying those prices, but that doesn't mean it has to cost that much, for what little differences that game offers from the previous one. The idea that prices all deserve to go so high and with little changes, while killing off regional prices just seems like pure greed to me. Game can be shit or stellar, but not everyone can afford it a pop each time, and with the current situation the world is in, it's not really good to be making any excuses for why games are going up in prices, even for shit games like these.

The price isn't even the main issue, the lack of quality is. The price makes it all just worse.

Also, I wonder if the game managed to sell 100k units WW.

I find issue with both. I'm not someone who was raised to ignore prices of any such product. It can be gods gift to man, but it it costs a lot, I will contest the price.

I'm looking at Sony charging $70 a pop for PS5 titles, and I'm not surprised there isn't much contention against the price increase.

This is will end up being yet another pot that will take another decade or two to boil, until people realise that classes exist, and that there's a nasty divide (not like it hasn't stopped people on here or off site from caring about the fact that the poor grow larger and the rich just brag about shit being worth as much money as they earn).

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

The demo happened...

Exactly this. I was interested in the game when it was announced, but after played that demo - hell no. Won't even touch it with a huge discount. What a letdown, probably the worst 3D platformer I've played in years.

User scores doing their thing.

It's bots. For all platforms. They lnly reviewed Balan, have a weird name and write a mumble jumble that doesn't make sense with all gramatical mistakes that are possible and give it 10/10.

Right when it started the user scores were around 9.8 or so.

It made me cry like an anime fan on Prom Night, that's what.

Best part is SE made big deal about building studio structure dedicated to this IP like they were sure they want to do lots of sequels. A bunch of greedy out of touch old men.

It's shit.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

SE does great games but since 2018 it seems that they make one big rubbish game every year:
2018 the quiet man
2019 left alive
2020 Marvels Avengers (Wouldn’t call it a complete turd but it was such a letdown)
2021 Balan.

I posted this exact same point in the review thread. Let's see what 2022 brings lol.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

The game doesn't have a license behind it or anything, and the trailers didn't look mindblowing. There's nothing about the game that make people run out and buy it day one without any research. And, when people did the research, either by playing the demo or reading previews, they would find that the game sucked.

Honestly, I'm more surprised that 2000 people actually bought it.
