Curious to see how Wilds performs. World's split was close between PS and PC, but PC probably pulled ahead and by some margin coz the game just keeps selling on Steam! As for Rise, I think it's safe to say PS is a distant 3rd but it's hard to say how far the PC version is from Switch.

PC is easily the biggest platform for Monster Hunter. I expect Wilds PC to dominate sales with a 64/31/5 split vs PS and Xbox. But I don't know if all versions combined can catch World's totals.

PC not near Nintendo Switch

Before the PC launch, MH Rise had 7.7 million sales.

Japan now has 5.5-6.2 million sales only on Switch. If Switch sales were only in Japan (not a realistic scenario with MH Switch sales only in Japan after the PC launch), 7.7 million + 1.75-2.45 million (Japan Switch only) = 9.45-10.15 million of 16.7 million.

Cesa White Paper, Famitsu Top 100, and Nintendo eShop Sales provide a good estimation.

I know it's not close to Switch, but it's gotta be well ahead of PS versions. How many physical copies did it sell in Japan so far?

MH Wilds sales in Japan will be interesting to see, Street fighter 6 seems to have sold much more on steam in Japan than on PS5, meaning that PS5 will probably be robbed of a huge opportunity to gain big market share in Japan due to the rise of Steam. MH Wilds sales on PS5 will see a collapse from MH World sales on PS4 in Japan due to rise of Steam during the last 5 years.

Steam grew quite big in Japan and everyone ignores this here. But what's your evidence that SF6 sold much more on Steam? I mean I wouldn't be shocked if it did, but what are you basing this on?

Estimations from install base forum, after Capcom stated they sold 1 million copies of SF6 in Japan, the estimates on the forum is 300K sold on PS5, 700K on Steam, the estimates were taken from retail sales, SF6 position on PS download charts. But the true number is unclear, except that it seems it sold more on steam than on ps5 at least.

Also important to mention that SF6 is an outliner, very few classic console games sell more on steam than on consoles in Japan. So MH Wilds may not trend towards steam the same way SF6 seems to have done in Japan.

Not a reliable method but who knows. 700k to 300k would be a disastrous result for Playstation. In Japan, PC revenue since COVID has been nearly doubling on an annual basis iirc, so it wouldn't surprise me if Wilds PC sells more even there.

I don't care as long as combined figures are healthy.

Rise has probably hit 10 million on Switch alone at this point, given that it was at nearly 8 million two years ago.

So it has likely sold more than the highest selling third party game on a Nintendo system pre-Switch (Just Dance 3 at 9.92m)

As of the 31st of March 2025, Rise has now sold 17.1 million copies, and Sunbreak has sold 9.8 million units, with both adding 400k in January-March.

As that was nearly two months ago, Sunbreak has by now very likely broken the 10 million mark.

With it's legs holding up well, it looks almost certain that Rise will top 20 million lifetime.

Confirmed by Capcom: Sunbreak has topped 10 million
